WTA Wimbledon Betting Tips
Petra Martic vs Francesca Jones (Approx 2am AEST)
This is a bit of a funny one, however I do have a decent amount of value showing up in the price of Francesca Jones. Make no mistake, Petra Martic has shown over the years that she can be a capable player on the grass court, however the 33 year old hasn’t been producing at a level we have come to know across the course of the majority of her career. Martic went 1-2 in the grass season in the lead-up, and with her level dropping off, and her lacking a dominant weapon on the court, it does bring Jones into this contest significantly. I personally feel as though Jones is playing better than her recent results suggest on paper, and the wins over Dolehide and more specifically Krueger in Nottingham were indeed impressive. The clay title leading into the grass season has done her confidence the world of good, and if she maintains the short to medium term level, she has every chance in this match-up.

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Magdalena Frech (Approx 2am AEST)
You’ll have noticed from the outright preview that I think there is a bit of value in Haddad Maia in the outright markets, and I have that being the case here in round 1 against Frech as well. The Brazilian is no slouch on the grass, and you only need to look at her run through Nottingham (won title), Birmingham (won title) and Eastbourne (semi final) in 2022 to see just how well she can play on the surface. She was again looking strong at Wimbledon last year before injury struck in the fourth round against Rybakina. She takes on Frech here, with the Polish world number 56 defeating Hibino and Maria and losing to Boulter, Bronzetti and Osorio on grass this season. Against the more powerful Haddad Maia today, I do feel the going is going to be a little difficult for Frech. More than comfortable staking 2 units on the -3.5 game handicap.
