Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, April 5th 2025

Race 1: Widden Kindergarten Stakes – 1100m – 12:25pm (AEDT)

(1) North England $3.40: 2YO who comes out of the slipper and was good enough there, so this looks a more winnable race. Should go close.

(2) King Of Pop $4.40: 2YO Colt also out of the slipper, but had no favours being drawn the carpark. Gets pole position this time and Lloyd remains in the saddle. First two career runs were good. Bounce back.

(6) Beskar $5.00: Resuming 2YO colt who was impressive winning in debut by more than 2L. Spelled and since trialled nicely. Watch the market.

TIP: NO BET

Race 2: Tab Adrian Knox Stakes - 2000m - 1:00pm (AEDT)

(1) Dominetta $4.20: 3YO Filly who resumed against Group 1 company and wasn’t the worst at big odds. Most recently ran nicely over the mile in open grade and continues to improve. Sticky gate, but with some luck this looks a nice race for her.

(3) Canny Queen $9.00/$2.80: 3YO Filly who drops back in distance and is a proven wet tracker. Draws well and K-Mac to steer. Value pick.

(9) Polymnia $3.40: The favourite who has been racing rather well and is rock hard fit. Zac Lloyd remains in the saddle. The one to beat.

TIP: NO BET

Race 3: Schweppes Chairmans Qlty 2600m – 1:35pm (AEDT)

(2) Athabascan $10/$2.80: 6YO Gelding who has been racing well and hit the line well behind Alalcance last start. Gets out further and a nice swing in weight against the favourite which puts him right in this.

(3) Alalcance $2.60: 5YO Mare who continues to win and win well. She maps perfectly again here to lead and dictate. Will take catching and looks the one to beat.

(12) Birdman $8.50/$2.40: 4YO gelding who looks much better suited now back on the weather effected track. Draws well and will be right in this if it remains wet. Each way.

Also Backing: (2) Athabascan E/W $10/$2.80 (1 Unit)

(3) Alalcance

$2.60 (4 Units)

Race 4: Hkjc World Pool Carbine Club Stakes - 1600m – 2:10pm (AEDT)

(1) Evaporate $3.20: Talented 3YO who has some good form coming into this. He boasts a good 1600m record and will be rock hard fit for this fourth up. Good wet tracker. Watch the market.

(2) Swiftfalcon $2.00: 3YO Gelding who has been fantastic in all his runs this prep and is unlucky to not have notched up a win. Must be considered again now.

(5) Shangri La Spring $8.50: 3YO Colt who notched up three wins in a row last prep and then a nice third when resuming. Has trialled well most recently behind Overpass, so must be considered.

TIP: NO BET

Race 5: Evergreen Turf Country Championships Final – 1400m – 2:45pm (AEDT)

(1) Gallant Star $3.20: 5YO Who has a nice little CV and goes well over 1400m. Destroyed them first up at $1.18. Can go on with it.

(3) Tribeca Star $11/$3.00: YO Helding who was an absolute horror watch last start, but prior to that was fantastic and looks over the odds here. Will be bouncing back and gets a nice booking with Nash on top.

(7) Know Thyself $3.80: 4YO who boasts a nice record and loves this trip. Handles the wet track which will go in his favour here. Bullock has a great record on top. Danger.

(3) Tribeca Star

$11/$3.00 (1 Unit)

Race 6: Inglis Sires - 1400m – 3:20pm (AEDT)

(1) Rivellino $4.00: 2YO Colt who won three in a row and were all very nice wins. Backed him in the slipper and he just got too far back, but hit the line nicely and would’ve finished closer if he had a better run in transit. Draws a gate today and Hugh BOWMAN stays on top. Looks a great bet.

(2) Wodeton $2.70: 2YO colt who everyone has been bullish on every start and he has raced well, but just can’t win. Gets another winnable race and a nice booking with Ryan MOORE. Watch the market.

(3) Vinrock $4.80: 2YO Colt looking to stay unbeaten and both previous wins have been eye catching. Ready for this company now to cement himself as a top horse.

(1) Rivellino

$4.00 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Asahi Super Dry TJ Smith Stakes - 1200m – 3:55pm (AEDT)

(1) Overpass $6.00/$2.10: Resuming 6YO who will be looking to get this run under his belt before heading back to compete for a third Quokka victory. Has trialled well and goes well fresh. Trailled well and must be considered. Only concern is the track record.

(4) Headwall $20/$4.80: 5YO Gelding who has been absolutely flying of late with some slick late sectionals in Group 1 company. She was badly held up first up in the G1 Oakleigh, but once she got out she was flashing home and finished 4th. His second up run was in the Newmarket and he came from the tail once again and flew home to only finish behind JOLISTAR who he meets again here. I appreciate he is worse off at the weights against JOLISTAR, but with the track expected to still be weather effected he should be making up for it. He trialled on the 28th of March and was rather impressive to watch where he just coasted from near last and almost won without Zac Lloyd even asking the question. He looks super and will be hard fit for this. Maps to get another tow into the race and will be hooning late. If the track remains wet, he looks a nice value pick

(5) Briasa $4.50: 4YO Gelding who has gone enormous first up in the Group 1 Galaxy finishing less than 2L behind the winner (PRIVATE HARRY). He got caught 4 wide without cover for the early parts after drawing the widest barrier and not being able to slot in. He ended up snagging back to last and was about a length or two off second last and looked to be all but gone. He continued the wide run and travelled up through the middle of the track and ended up finishing 4th. It was a very impressive run considering the barrier and wide run throughout. He gets out to 1200m now and draws a much better gate today. Maps nicely and will only be improving second up. Looks a very good bet

Also Backing: (4) Headwall E/W $20/$4.80 (1 Unit)

(5) Briasa

$4.50 (2.5 Units)

Race 8: The Star Doncaster Mile- 1600m – 4:35pm (AEDT)

(1) Another Wil $11/$3.40: Roughie of the race who probably should’ve won last start. Should be bouncing back and will be in the finish. The price is enormous, but the wide draw is probably why. If he can overcome the barrier he goes close.

(2) Gringotts $6.50/$2.40: Very good win last start and has now made himself known as a group 1 winner. Draws well and will be likely going on with it now. Watch the market.

(8) Stefi Magnetica $20/$5.00: 4YO Mare who has been luckless of late and then when finally had a nice run didn’t go on with it. We know she is capable but needs to hit back hard. Last chance before sacked.

(1) Another Wil E/W

$11/$3.40 (1 Unit)

Race 9: Atc Australian Derby - 2400m – 5:15pm (AEDT)

(1) Willydoit $3.70: Kiwi 3YO who has been racing very well with 4 wins in his last 5 outings. Sectionals have been slick and looks ready to make a name for himself in Aus. Will have plenty of followers.

(5) Plymouth $13/$3.20: 3YO gelding who has been racing well and looks suited now out to this trip. Draws well, rock hard fit and money mark Zahra steers. Value.

(18) Aeliana $3.10: 3YO Filly who was sensational last start in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas only narrowly missing behind BROADSIDING with some slick late splits. She was hampered at the 400m which may have been the difference. She has been racing well this prep and looks another nice chance for this Group 1 Australian Derby. She remains at 54.5kg and Frosty Lane is sticking in the saddle. The rise out to 2400m looks appealing off the Rosehill Guineas run and she maps to get a nice run midfield for this. Nicely rated and must be respected off recent efforts. Happy to be on.

(18) Aeliana

$3.10 (3 Units)

Race 10: Precise Air P J Bell Stakes - 1200m – 5:50pm (AEDT)

(1) Clean Energy $2.70: 3YO Filly who is unbeaten over this trip and when on the wet track. Ryan MOORE jumps in and deserves to be favourite. Main Danger.

(2) Zeitung $7.00/$2.20: 3YO Filly who has a nice little record and will have plenty of followers here. Will be around the mark.

(5) Love Poem $8.50/$2.40: Value pick of the race who is a half sister to the great Estriella. Got the job done fresh and looks suited here. Has some handy form lines and maps well. Value.

(5) Love Poem E/W

$8.50/$2.40 (1 Unit)
