Newcastle Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 23rd 2025
Race 3: New Era Technology Mdn Plate – 2:30pm (AEST)
(2) Tommy Thug $4.50: 5YO Gelding who has had a freshen up and hasn’t been all that far away in his three runs this prep. Draws well and gets Jason Collett on top. Early market support suggests he will be going close here.
(4) El Paso $2.20: 3YO Gelding who hasn’t been disgraced in his runs and has some good form coming out of open class last prep when competing on the dry track. Remains a maiden but looks to be a major player here. Price a touch short?
(6) Southerly Buster $10/$2.60: 3YO Gelding who has finished in the minors in both career runs. Most recently over 1500m he was solid through to the line coming up the inside of the track. Gaps to the others. He rates well and gets a 3kg claim with Stapleford remaining on top. Maps well and looks ready for this trip third up. Goes well at the price.
(6) Southerly Buster E/W
$10/$2.60 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Tab App Hcp Class 1 - 1250m - 3:10pm (AEST)
(1) Flying From Above $9.00/$3.00: Freshened 3YO Colt who was good first and second up before being safely held in open class against some talented types. Has since trialled well and is now in a new stable. Gets in okay with a 1.5kg claim, but draws a sticky gate. Will need some luck, but will be around the mark.
(4) Tasoraay $4.20: 3YO Gelding who has been good in all of his runs and has a nice little resume from his 5 career runs. Broke maiden to end his campaign last time out winning comfortably. Has trialled twice leading into this and looks to start things off with a bang. Goes well fresh.
(6) Motoscafo $10/$3.20: 3YO Filly who improved sharply second up over 1100m in this grade. She was strong through to the line and looks as though she will relish the extra trip now. Rates well and maps reasonably okay from the wide draw. Looks a nice value play.
(6) Motoscafo E/W
$10/$3.20 (1 Unit)
Race 8: The Prince Of Merewether Provincial BM64 - 1850m – 4:55pm (AEST)
(3) Karmazone $21/$5.00: Roughie of the race who will settle at the rear, but generally makes ground late. Gets in okay with a 2kg claim. Extra trip suits and being second up is expected to improve. Blow out hope.
(6) Magicon $8.00/$2.40: 4YO Gelding who who solid in the market last start over this grade/trip, but was well beaten. Will be fitter again and his best is good enough. Its been a long time between drinks though, so taking on trust. Top jockey to steer.
(7) November Falls $5.00: 5YO Mare who looks ready to win. She has been freshened up for this and goes well on the soft track. Draws wide, but id expect her to slot in up on the pace and hopefully can get into the run of the race. Grant Buckley to steer and an early market push builds confidence. On top.
(7) November Falls
$5.00 (1 Unit)
