Finally for the Tigers, on field rugby league action can take centre stage for them. In a tumultuous week, they can allow the players to do the talking with their actions. The Eels will be standing in their way and out to increase the hurt on the home side; they are a team who needs a confidence boost also and have a great opportunity to affect change. Match Preview
The Tigers were all class as they traveling to Newcastle to play the Knights, careful dismantling their opponents in their 20-4 victory. Dominating the first half, they led 14-nil at HT and looked the superior team in every area. They controlled possession (57%) and had a superior completion rate (78%), making significantly more metres (averaged 9.3m per carry). It was a positive display from them.
The Eels were the opposite in their 50-12 drubbing in Darwin by the Raiders, outclassed in every area. Trying hard, they couldn’t match their opponents and quickly trailed 24-6 heading into HT. It failed to improve in the second half, conceding 4 more tries. They were their own worst enemy completing at just 66% with only 44% possession. Defence was poor too; they allowed 10.4m per carry, 715pcm’s, conceded 8 line breaks and missed 45 tackles.
The off-field issues have undoubtedly narrowed betting markets heading into this contest, with Galvin left out of the team for this week’s match. The change in price has also coincided with the return of Moses for the visitors. On face value, most would expect the Eels to lift. They have a superior record here (38% vs 62%) and will be out to make amends for their Round 2 32-6 loss to their opponents. Unfortunately, their defensive shortcomings will need more than the injection of a star halfback to overturn the result. If there is a positive to come out for the Tigers this week, it is that their playing group appears united and are determined to bring about positive change.
It will be tight, but the line appears to be the likely average margin of victory between these two sides in their past 5 matches is 15.8 points; it is likely to be a similar outcome should the visitors defence remain stagnant.

Leg 2: Under 47.5 points – an 81 point match last season means that the average total points in the past 5 matches is 51 points. Take that game out and a similar total to Round 2 (38 points) is expected.
Leg 3: Turuva to score – he leads the Tigers with 7 tries and looked back to his dominating best last week with a strong display. He has been vocal this week and will be out to make a point, with his on field action doing the talking.
