Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 9th 2025
Race 3: Ive Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)
(3) Alteratum has a powerful finish on her and after placing on both occasions over this distance she is ready to strike for the McEvoy stable and Harry Coffey. At Hillside last start she was beaten a head after being 4th with 150m to go and she would have got there with another few bounds. Coffey has ridden her in all 8 starts and from barrier 7 she will drift back before launching late. The key to her winning is likely out of her control though and its whether they go hard up front, the faster, the better.
(1) Actuality hasn’t placed in her last three starts but her form is okay because the runs have been pretty good for Moody & Coleman. This race looks a little easier than last time too.
(5))Belcony showed promise in her first prep but let punters down. Then last start she came out first up and rectified that with a win. Stays at 1400 but does have to carry an extra 2kg.
(3) Altermatum WIN
$3.20 (2 Units)
Race 4: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(4) I Am Velvet for Philip Stokes and Craig Williams goes on top here after a good Spring Carnival. She has spelled since and then won a Pakenham jumpout on April 1 and she looks ready. She has won twice when first up and she looked at home in Listed races last year so the easier race here should be to her liking. Has on very the 1200m before and is capable on Dry ground.
(6) Happy Link is first up here but was only fair in a Cranbourne jumpout two weeks ago for Team Eurell so make of that what you will. She loves Dry ground and this distance but her jockey has decided to ride I Am Velvet.
(7) Madam Instrife goes well second up and the Moody & Coleman stable have had her for three months now so they might have worked her out after coming over from the Hawkes yard. Is versatile, can lead or can take a sit.
(4) I Am Velvet WIN
$2.50 (3 Units)
Race 8: Tile Importer Handicap - 5:05pm (AEST)
(9) She’s A Hustler is only $1.60 but she looks the goods here in the last. She moves to 2100m but that should be of no issues and Jordan Childs stays with her. She has the ability to put in a powerful finish or she can settle handy too and make her run late. Before her break she was $1.60 when winning, but only just at Hillside before connections decided to give her a little spell. If she has come back stronger here, she should be winning by 2 to 3L.
(1) Sun God was outclassed at The Valley last start when 5th and will appreciate the drop in grade. In saying that, he bumps into a smart one. Goof track form only fair.
(2) Cable Dancer is experienced and stormed home for a win at Ballarat last start. If they go quick out in front again he can Place at odds. Likes Good tracks.
(9) She’s A Hustler
$1.60 (4 Units)
