Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday April 5th 2025

April 4th 2025, 1:18pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Caulfield Racing Tips

Caulfield will host 10 races on Saturday with an even mix of quality races throughout the day.  The starting time of the first race is 12:10pm (AEDT) and the Quaddie will start at Race 7. It’s a tough Quaddie and it should pay well, so we have gone wide in each leg. The tracks in Victoria are still dry with little rain over the summer and we will keep that in mind when selecting bets. My best three bets are below!

Bet Galaxy

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, April 5th 2025

Race 2: Noel Rundle Handicap - 12:40pm (AEDT)

(9) Heart Of Glass almost got there at Caulfield last start after running on well over the 1200m and the McEvoy team has decided to remain at the same distance here. The mare will likely get back again and settle in the second half of the field and will likely take off at the 400m. Harry Coffey has won twice on Heart Of Glass before and will know when to push his buttons.

(3) Prancing Spirit runs very well on Good tracks and this race looks easier than his Mooney Valley race last start (3rd). He hasn’t won in almost 500 days which is a concern but he handles Caulfield well.

(10) Barbaric Lad is usually slow out so will have to past most of the field to win. He runs on well which is a plus. Luke Currie is on for the first time.

(9) Heart Of Glass

$2.80 (2 Units)

Race 5: Elvis Thurgood Galilee Series Final - 2:25pm (AEDT)

(2) Statuario ran on pretty well at The Valley last start (3rd) and the extra 400m here looks suitable. A Dry track is a plus but his Caulfield form is only fair. His last 3 runs have been in Group races, including the Group 1 Australia Guineas (14th) and he is really going to appreciate the drop in class here. He is very fit now and Johnny Allen was happy with his latest effort when 3rd.

(10) Rapid Cheval got too far back at The Valley last start and was never in it so it may pay to forget that run. Before that he was beaten a nose at Hillside when running on well as favourite. Each-Way hope.

(1) Red Aces has come back from his spell on fairly but he has too much talent to leave out. Went forward last start from a similar barrier.

(2) Statuario

$2.40 (3 Units)

Race 10: Robert Taranto Handicap - 5:35pm (AEDT)

(4) Regal Amazon is the value selection of the day after he was caught wide with no luck last start at this track when 4th. This race is slightly easier but barrier 15 will need a good ride from Jo Bowditch. He has a good winning strike rate though and the stable is in form.

(16) Porter settled outside the leader at Morphettville as was too strong in the end when odds on favourite last start. He is up in class here but his record over the 1400m is very good having won on 5 occasions. Barrier 19 is the concern to his winning chances though.

(1) Modown will settle in a good spot in this race and Caulfield is one of his favourite tracks. Is the top weight so will need to save ground and not get caught wide in this race. He has drawn well in 3 and Jett Stanley should get a good run.

(4) Regal Amazon E/W

$14/$3.80 (0.5 Units)
