Flemington Racing Tips

Flemington hosts its traditional Anzac Day race meeting on Friday with the running of the annual ST Leger Handicap run over 2800m. Race one starts at 1pm AEST and the weather is meant to be rainy. In saying that the track is Good but that may change by the last few races. My three best bets are below!

Flemington Racing Tips: Friday, April 25th 2025

Race 4: Auckland Thoroughbred Racing Inc. Trophy - 2:45pm (AEST)

(14) Ten Deep for the Moody & Coleman camp have one here who might like the extra distance in the home straight. She ran on well with Linda Meech on top at Hillside last start (3rd) and if the track is downgraded to Soft then that will be a bonus for this girl. She remains at the 1400m and has drawn well in barrier 1.

(6) Lady Di Di is big odds here I reckon and if it is Dry she is a good Place chance. She was in the same race as Ten Deep who is favourite and Lady Di Di is currently 34-1. I think that's too much of a gap.

(4) I Am Velvet has won 2 from 5 starts on a Good track and her win last start was very good after settling on pace. Is comfortable on both Good and Soft tracks.

(14) Ten Deep Each-Way

$4.40/$1.85 (1 Unit)

Race 6: VRC ST Leger - 3:55pm (AEST)

(4) Format will want a Soft track here which is a 50.50 chance at this time of day. He led all of the way at Kembla Grange two starts back but then failed in the Group 2 Tullcoh last start. He won a jumpout at Werribee last start and this race is easier than his last assignment. Waterhoue & Bott are in his corner and he may try to lead all of the way.

(1) Tsitsipas race in the Group 1 Derby at Randwick last start for a 14th but this is easier. Before that he went forward at The Valley and scored over 2500m and he comes into this reasonably fresh.

(12) Tel Aviv also went forward and led all of the way at Mornington so there might be a bit of early pace in this one. A Good track would be better for him and he drops a kilo for this which might help over the final 200m.

(4) Format Each-Way

$4.40/$1.80 (1 Unit)

Race 7: Flt Lt Peter Armytage Handicap - 4:30pm (AEST)

(1) Midtown Boss is capable of both Good and Soft tracks and he comes into this fresh off a spell. He has won twice when first up previously and he loves Flemington having won twice on the surface as well as running second on three occasions. He likes the 1100m and this is one of the easier races he has been in over this distance. Last effort was an 8th in the Group 2 Caulfield Guineas.

(4) Moonhaven will be double figure odds and will be running on over the concluding stages. He is also first up and he does go well fresh and he has won at Flemington before.

(9) Cheval Chic has won three races over the 1100m and a Soft track would be best. She hasn’t won in almost a year but she did run on well last start at this track for 5th. Hasn’t placed in her last three starts but the stable is going well.

(1) Midtown Boss Each-Way

$5.00/$1.95 (1 Unit)
