Match Preview
The Suns are coming into this one full of confidence. They've started 2025 unbeaten with three solid wins over Adelaide, Melbourne, and West Coast. It’s probably the best start to a season they’ve ever had, and under Damien Hardwick, they’re looking more polished and dangerous with each game.
Gold Coast has been winning games off the back of a super-efficient midfield and some sharp shooting up forward. Ben King has looked as dangerous as ever, and the likes of Touk Miller and Matt Rowell are doing serious damage around stoppages. The Suns are also looking rock solid on the injury front at the moment. Only Charlie Ballard, Connor Budarick and David Swallow will be missing from their potential best 23 for the trip to SA this week.
North Melbourne, on the other hand, has had a rougher ride. They’re sitting at 1-3 after copping a 65-point hiding from Sydney last round. There have been glimpses of promise—especially in their win against Melbourne in Round 2—but consistency and defence remain big question marks for this young side.
North’s biggest challenge will be tightening up down back. Sydney sliced through them far too easily last week, and if they let the Suns get on a roll, they could be chasing tail again. Improving their ball use and cutting down turnovers will go a long way to keeping this one close.
Gold Coast should head into this clash as strong favorites, and the stats back it up—the Suns are unbeaten in 2025 with a 3-0 record, averaging 97 points per game while conceding just 66, showcasing a well-balanced attack and tight defence. The Roos are also ranked bottom five in clearance differentials and inside 50 efficiency, areas where the Suns—led by Touk Miller and Matt Rowell—excel. Unless North can drastically lift their midfield pressure and tidy up their backline, expect Gold Coast to control the game and notch a comfortable win by five goals or more.

Touk Miller 20+ Disposals - Has reinvented his game this season, turning himself from a pure inside mid to a much more hybrid in/out midfielder who can also float forward and hit the scoreboard. Averaging 24.3 touches per game this season and had 29 in his last full game against the Roos.
