Moonee Valley Racing Tips

The Valley will showcase thoroughbred racing in Melbourne on Saturday and it’s not a bad card too despite the main meeting of the week being at Flemington on ANZAC Day. The first of the program starts at 12:20pm (AEST) and the last concludes at 5:10pm (AEST). The track is currently rated as Good but a downgrade may occur if the light showers persist around Melbourne. My three best bets are below!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, April 26th 2025

Race 2: Manhari Handicap - 12:55pm (AEST)

(7) Prinzerro gets the nod in the small field of 7 because he is well weighted in this event. Logan Bates takes the ride and the horse is carrying 7.5kg less than last start where he finished 3rd at Bendigo after leading. Before that he was 8th at Flemington after sitting midfield. Should take up a prominent position here either on the outside of the leader or on its back.

(4) Elouyou is the deserved favourite and should lead this field. Is a winner here and he did run 3rd in a strong trial at Caulfield two weeks ago. The current odds of $1.90 look a bit short though but he does race very well for Fred Kersley.

(5) Deekay is a chance if the track remains Good. Is very consistent and has won twice before with Johnny Allen on top but Johnny has to come over from the outside barrier.

(7) Prinzerro WIN

$3.80 (2 units)

Race 3: Western General Bodyworks Handicap - 1:30pm (AEST)

(6) Excess is ready to strike again after running well for 3rd at Cranbourne last start. She went forward on that occasion and will do the same here from barrier 9. This is her favourite distance and the Sandhu stable is going quite well at the moment. Ticks a few boxes.

(7) Lady Di Di will want a Dry track and if she gets that I think she is a sneaky chance at 18-1. She was scratched on ANZAC Day in preference for this assignment and the 1200mis her go. She will settle midfield and she has raced in harder races than this.

(5) Zebella is another one who will want in Dry. Is pretty fresh and forget last start where she was caught wide at Morphettville. Will be running on.

Also Backing: (7) Lady Di Di WIN $18.00 (0.5 units)

(6) Excess WIN

$3.70 (1 unit)

Race 9: Manhari Recycling Handicap - 5:10pm (AEST)

(9) Ambassadorial has drawn well in 2 and is capable on both Good and Soft surfaces. He is second up here and has never missed a top 3 finish when second up and with McNeil on board he will be one of the strongest late. He will need luck in running because I can see him settling in around 4th or 5th the inside but if the gaps appear he can cut through. He is a Moonee Valley winner and his latest 3rd at The Valley was very good.

(15) Grey Ice is working through the grades nicely and is a big chance if we don’t get much rain. Has drawn wide in 11 but will get back anyway. One of the strongest at the end.

(12) Aspen Colorado likes this rack and didn’t get much luck at Bendigo last start when 7th. Will run here and then likely head to The BOOL.

(9) Ambassadorial WIN

$4.20 (2 units)
