Match Preview

The Panthers finally regained some momentum to stop a 5-game losing streak. Ironically, it came against the Roosters, the team responsible for starting that run back in Round 2. It was as different, more dominating outcome this time for the Panthers, overcoming conceding the first try and a tight 12-6 HT lead to prevail 40-12. The victory came on the back of possession (54%) and a high completion rate (54%), as well as strong carries with the ball. They made 385m more and had 118 more pcm’s. Their defence was strong also, allow only 3 line breaks, 12 points and missing just 28 tackles.

The Sea Eagles found themselves coming up short against the Dragons at home, defeated 20-18. Always trailing, they could do little with their superior possession (53%), as they were let down with a poor completion rate (73%). They were vulnerable defensively to a dull attack also, allowing 6 line breaks and 9.9m per carry.

Team changes will have a large impact on this contest; the Panthers again lose Kenny (suspension) meanwhile the Sea Eagles welcome back Trbojevic at fullback. Kenny’s contribution to the Panthers is underrated and Turbo will add confidence to those around him. They will be without his brother Jake, who does plenty of work in the middle. Nevertheless, the Panthers are far too short on these changes alone. The recent history suggests it will be a hard fixture for the visitors; the Panthers have won 9 out of the past 10 matches with the average margin of victory in the past 5 matches being 18 points. The Sea Eagles hold a slightly strong attacking (24ppg vs 26ppg) and defensive record (26ppg vs 23ppg) this season but the quality of opponent each team has face has drastically impacted this statistic.

The Panthers are the more fancied of the two with the Sea Eagles 2-3 record in their past 5 matches suggesting that their form is trending downwards, whereas the Panthers appear to be on the way up. It will be tight though, despite an average margin of victory of 18 points in the past 5 matches, take the home team by a 2-try margin.

Panthers 1-12

Leg 2: Alamoti to score – moving to the wing has strengthened his try scoring credentials. He crossed again last week and is proving lethal on the edge.

Leg 3: Hopoate to score – covering at fullback has made him more of a ball-playing option. He now moves back to the wing and will get the opportunity to showcase his talents there.

Scooby's strength is assessing the overall team - what they offer across the field in a match and how the ethos of a club contributes to their success. Momentum also has a major impact on sports, and Scooby likes to explore this, while underpinning his judgement against a solid basis of statistical analysis. When combined with the aforementioned points, it combines for a holistic approach towards betting on rugby league.

Other sports he enjoys include Cricket, Horse Racing and NFL. There is a reason why Scooby ‘clicked’ with BYB from Day 1 - he loves his sport as much as we do.
