Port Adelaide and North Melbourne will face off this Saturday afternoon at Adelaide Oval, with both teams coming in with very different seasons so far. Port Adelaide has regained control after a poor start, which saw them drop to 1-3. They had disappointing losses to teams like the Bombers and Saints but have since bounced back with solid wins over the Hawks and, most recently, the Swans, bringing their record to 3-3. They'll be keen to maintain this momentum and push on for a strong finish to the season.
North Melbourne, however, is struggling badly, sitting at 1-5 and in the midst of a four-game losing streak. It's been a tough season after a promising preseason, and the Kangaroos have failed to live up to expectations. Their defence has been a massive issue, giving up over 110 points in four straight games, including a whopping 153 last week to a Blues side that has been out of form themselves. With these defensive struggles, the Kangaroos have had little chance to get a foothold in games, especially against stronger opposition like Port Adelaide.
While Port Adelaide has shown some defensive vulnerabilities, they've been able to outscore teams thanks to their attacking power. North Melbourne, on the other hand, has not been able to find that same balance. Their defence continues to leak goals, and that trend looks set to continue in this matchup. With Port Adelaide playing at home and coming off a big win, they'll be looking to capitalise on the Kangaroos' defensive frailties.
Recent encounters between these two teams have been high-scoring, with Port Adelaide regularly putting up over 100 points. With both teams likely to give up a few goals, this game is set to be another high-scoring contest. The Power will look to exploit North Melbourne’s defensive issues, and if their recent form is anything to go by, the total points are expected to comfortably go over the 180.5 line.
