2024 AFL Round 11 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs Sydney
Thursday 7:30pm AEST, May 23rd, Marvel Stadium
Fans of the Western Bulldogs would feel as though they’ve been on an endless roller coaster in 2024, such has been their team’s extreme fluctuations in form from game to game and even quarter to quarter in some instances.
However, the Bulldogs enter Round 11 on a high thanks to back-to-back wins, both of which were in dominant fashion. The Dogs destroyed the listless Tigers by 91 points two weeks ago (133-42) and backed it up with an upset win on the road against the Giants last weekend (70-43).
In more positive news for the Dogs, Tom Liberatore has been cleared to resume playing and could return in as soon as 2-3 weeks. The star midfielder recently suffered his fifth concussion in less than 12 months but is determined to continue his playing career.
The Dogs made just one change at selection this week, with Anthony Scott coming in for Luke Cleary (omitted). Caleb Daniel was the sub last week and has been named as one of the five bench players again.
In contrast to their upcoming opponents, 2024 has been all smooth sailing for Sydney thus far. They’ve come up against numerous challenges in their first 10 games and have passed them all in flying colours. Strangely enough, their only loss this season came against the 17th placed Tigers back in Round 3.
The Swans are currently riding a six-game win streak and have beaten each of those opponents by at least four goals. In fact, their defeat aside, no club has gotten within 20 points of the Swans this season, highlighting just how dominant they’ve been.
At no surprise to anyone, the Swans have made very little change to their team ahead of Round 11. The injured Robbie Fox will make way for Matt Roberts who was managed last weekend.
Match Prediction: The Dogs have been in some good touch over the past fortnight, and that’s been reflected in the markets where they’re only giving up an 8.5-point start to the Swans. However, considering no team other than the Tigers have managed to get within that distance of the Swans this season, I’m keen to back in the ladder-leaders to secure another relatively comfortable win.

Marcus Bontempelli 25+ Disposals – The Dogs will need their superstar in the guts as much as possible to try and match it with the star-studded Swans engine room. I’m expecting a big game from the Bont.
Isaac Heeney 25+ Disposals – Hasn’t put a foot wrong all year and remains great value in the disposal markets. He goes in again.
Tom Papley Anytime Goal Scorer – Just continues to hit the scoreboard each week and should have his way with the usually poor Bulldogs defence.
Chad Warner Anytime Goal Scorer – Spending a bit more time forward due to the Swans midfield depth. Warner has been kicking goals for fun and jagged three last weekend.
SGM Odds: $4.33 at BoomBet
