Match Preview
The Warriors bounced back from a disappointing performance in Round 1 against the Raiders with a strong 36-16 victory over the Sea Eagles at home. Despite a slow start, they gained enough momentum to finish with an 18-6 HT lead. There is no doubt their win was established with measured ball control; with 54% possession, they completed at 91% and continually built pressure on their opponents. Missing just 16 tackles highlights their improvement from their first match of the year.
The Roosters also bounced back to winning form with an upset victory over the Panthers. With few giving them hope, they managed to shock their opponents over 80 minutes, prevailing 38-30 in a high scoring contest. With scores tied at 18-all at HT, the Roosters delivered more attacking brilliance in the second half, while being forced to hold off their fast-finishing opponents. They fared better with a superior completion rate (77%) and fewer missed tackles (29). They challenge is now maintaining this standard and putting Round 1 of the competition out of their minds altogether.
The odds for this match are close. The effort of the Roosters has made punters and bookmakers re-think the potential within this team. There is no doubt that they are capable on their day and have a talented roster at their disposal. The 3 key inclusions in the forward of Collins, Leniu and Radley is a major boost for the Roosters. It sways momentum in their favour and gives them the opportunity to take the match to the Warriors in the middle of the field. The home sides discipline is where they build pressure, but a quick ruck speed also allows them to get over the advantage line.
As it is still early in the season, confidence in both sides is low. They have produced performances at either end of the spectrum. More clarity is needed by both moving forward. For this reason, the overall suggesting is to avoid this match. There are better options this weekend. If you must have a bet, stick to this game being a tight contest, decided by 10-points or less, with either team prevailing.

Leg 1: Under 51.5 points – The average margin in their past 5 matches is 36.4 points, with 4 decided by 44 points or less. Despite their opening two weeks defensively, things are expected to tighten up.
Leg 2: Young to score – he scored a double last time these two sides met and is in form after scoring 1 last week.
Leg 3: Tuaupiki to score – barged his way to the line last week and is a powerful runner of the ball. Offers a different challenge for the Roosters wingers and is a great finisher of backline movements.
SGM Odds: $6.50 at BoomBet
