There is plenty of tennis action across multiple continents at the moment, and Ace is back with two more previews, with one coming at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday night (AEST) and the other in Washington on Thursday morning. Check out his previews and best bets below and good luck if following!
Tennis Predictions & Tips: Wednesday July 31st 2024
ATP Paris – Tommy Paul vs Jakub Mensik
Time: Approx 11pm AEST
I’ve been pretty keen on Tommy Paul recently, and I don’t see any reason to change here as the American takes on Jakub Mensik for a place in the 3rd round in Paris.
Paul has done a terrific job of adapting his game to the point where he can be quite successful on all surfaces. His highlight of his clay season this year was the semi final in Rome (lost to Jarry in 3 sets), having notched wins over Karatsev, Medvedev and Hurkacz along the way. The question mark around Paul in the past has been his application to his game and as a result his consistency, but he has certainly made big strides in the last 12 to 18 months.
Mensik lacks the depth in his clay court form to date to be able to confidently back here in any capacity. I think the conditions in Paris today also suit Paul a little more than Mensik, and the -3.5 game handicap is one that is standing out to me. I’ll be playing this for 1.5 units.
Tommy Paul -3.5 games vs Jakub Mensik
$1.83 (1.5 Units)
WTA Washington – Sofia Kenin vs Paula Badosa
Time: Approx Tuesday 09:30am AEST
I am not sure I am ready to jump off Sofia Kenin as quickly as some. The American is back on home soil and presents as a decent price here against Paula Badosa in my opinion. The Spaniard has had an indifferent year on court in terms of her level and her fitness, and I just don’t feel as though I can justify her being sub-$1.30 in this match-up in the hot and humid conditions that are on offer in Washington.
Kenin is a player who should have no troubles with the conditions, nor should she be troubled by the power from the other end of the court. I could also make a case for Kenin at the +4 games, however my preference lies with the price of the moneyline.
Sofia Kenin to defeat Paula Badosa
$3.40 (1.5 Units)
