AFL Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
St Kilda vs Fremantle
Marvel Stadium, Saturday, 7.30pm (AEST)
After finishing in 6th place on the ladder last season and with many predicting their young list to improve, the Saints have been arguably the biggest disappointment in the league this season. They sit in 14th place on the ladder with a 3-6 record, and although they have had a tough schedule to start the season, their true form was exposed in Round 9 with an embarrassing loss to the Hawks.
As a result, Ross Lyon has swung the axe at the selection table for the upcoming game against the Dockers.Angus Hastie, Jack Hayes and Hugo Garcia were all omitted from the team while Liam Stocker, Tim Membrey and Seb Ross have been managed. Coming into the side is Cooper Sharman, Mattaes Philipou, Anthony Caminiti, Zak Jones, Lance Collard and former Blues midfielder Paddy Dow, who will make his Saints debut.
The Dockers have had an up and down season do date, winning their first three games of the year before going 2-4 over the last six weeks. They were dealt a slight reality check by the Swans at home last week, going down by 48 points just a few days after an impressive win over the Tigers.
On the contrary to the Saints, the Dockers will go into the clash completely unchanged, however, it’s unlikely that two-time Brownlow medalist Nat Fyfe will remain as the sub for the Dockers as he was in the loss to the Swans.
Match Prediction
Hard to like anything about the Saints at the moment. Sure, their defence might be slightly above average, but their offence has been absolutely deplorable this season, scoring more points than only the four teams below them on the ladder.
Marvel was a fortress for the way they played last season, but it has been anything but that this year and I actually think their play style which focuses on high intensity running is actually more suited to the open spaces of the MCG.
As for the Dockers, it’s been hard to get a read on them this year with their inconsistent form. One thing that is for sure though, is that both of these teams value the defensive side more than the attacking. They are the No.2 and No.6 ranked teams defensively this season, while ranked 13th and 14th offensively. Back the unders here.

Marcus Windhager 20+ Disposals - Windhager has been a great accumulator since moving into a full time midfield role this season. Has hit the mark in five of his last seven games and averages 21.8 on the season.
Liam Henry 1+ Goal - The Saints have looked a little big in the forward line all season and are in desperate need of a smaller option with the likes of Higgins and Butler out of the line-up. Liam Henry had a few chances in a low scoring game against the Hawks last week and I think he spends more time forward against his old side.
