Match Preview
The Sharks bounced back to winning form against the Cowboys following their Round 1 loss in Vegas to the Panthers. With a lot made about their travel in the past two weeks, many would’ve excused them for their performance. They had other ideas, piling on the points in their 36-12 victory; it could’ve easily been a larger margin too had they maintained their opening intensity. They set up victory by dominating possession (56%) and completing well (83%), while also having 10 line breaks. They were superior in all areas of this match.
The Rabbitohs had to fight hard for their 2-competition points but remain undefeated to start the season following their 25-24 win over the Dragons. Trailing 24-12 in the second half, they demonstrated patience and used their 81% completion rate to their advantage. They tightened up defensively but will want to improve upon their 31 missed tackles if they are to be competitive here. Despite missing several key players, they are performing strongly with unexpected victories.
This has undoubtedly impacted the price of each team for this match. The Sharks have performed well in the opening two weeks but the distance they have travelled for matches could be about to have an impact. The Rabbitohs haven’t been outside of Sydney yet and will be primed to use this to their advantage. A lot of factors will work against them though, including having a poor record at this ground to contend with (29% - 6/21). The return of Wighton to their starting team improves them on both sides of the ball. They will again find ways to produce points but ultimately, the home side should have too much strength across the field (and 80 minutes) and will prevail, just not by as much as the odds are suggesting.

Leg 1: Sharks to win – this is a simple bet to add value into the SGM. They are the preferred team and with little confidence elsewhere, sometimes the simpler approach is the better one to take.
Leg 2: Under 54.5 – the total points average in the past 5 games is 43 points and only once has it been by more than 50 points in this timeframe.
Leg 3: Nikora to score – he has already scored two tries this season and will again be a key attacking threat on the edge. Look for the Sharks halves to get the ball to him with space, close to the line.
SGM Odds: $7.50 at BoomBet
