Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday January 7th
Race 5
(4) Frumos hasn’t lost my respect just yet but she’s beginning to become a bit costly. She needs to improve here after a lacklustre performance last time where she seemingly got enough room in the straight but was unable to accelerate across the line. Her best is still good enough to win this I suspect so I’m staying loyal and hoping for an improved run.
(5) Ausbred Flirt ran 2nd to Estadio Mestalla last time from the lead and can produce a similar performance here but will need to overcome a wide barrier. She’s a talented mare but will need some luck.
(1) Festival Dancer is the best drawn leader so should find the rail early. She’s handled the wet before and with the best position in running should be fighting out the finish.

Race 7
(12) Global Ausbred can be forgiven for his seemingly poor performance in the Summer Cup last time as he was caught 3 wide the entire way and understandably had little left in the tank for the finish. He’ll definitely have a much better time from gate 2 here and carries only 53kg for Jay Ford. Expecting him to be hard to beat with clear running late in the race.
(5) Aleas is favourite here and drawn well. He had a peach of a run and was unable to beat Bonny Ezra last time so I can’t have him on top at a much shorter quote here. That said, he should be able to fight out the finish with a similar performance to the one he produced last start.
(13) Mission Phoenix would be an on top selection for me in this race if he was drawn well. Unfortunately, he’s stuck with gate 13 which will pose some issues for the horse and jockey during the race. If those problems can be overcome this horse is a huge chance as he’s in cracking form.

Race 10
(9) Pizarro is going extremely well. He can continue his good form here after trialling exceptionally well for 6thunder a strong hold from James McDonald. Perfectly drawn in gate 4 with Tommy Berry riding and is a clear standout for me in this.
(7) Kalino would be the obvious threat exhibiting good recent form and winning 1st up last time. He’ll have to be on his game to beat Pizarro but should be around the mark regardless.
(5) Niffler is one of the few mares in this race but is drawn well, has good 1st up stats and will handle the wet track. She’s got to be some chance and is a nice e/w price well into double figures to have a go at.
