We’re returning to Rosehill after quite some time and for the first time in 2024. The listed January Cup adds some interest on this card and there looks to be a few solid hopes and betting opportunities which I’ve highlighted here.

Race 6: Farnan Yearlings Selling Now (Bm78) - 1800m (15:30 AEDT)
(8) Louisville is the top chance here and I agree with the market he’s the deserving favourite. He just needs to stop being ridden like he’s Winx and he’ll win another race. From gate 1 I pray he lands further forward than the last 3 horses in the run.
(3) Aristonous gets another chance after bombing out last start for no apparent reason. Trial since was a pass so he’s in calculations.
(7) Floating can run a drum at a nice price and wasn’t far off the favourite the last time they met. Huge price difference in this race and not so much of a disparity in ability.
(8) Louisville

Race 7: James Squire January Cup (Listed) - 2000m (16:15 AEDT)
(9) Touristic gets blinkers first time here and wasn’t far off Naval College last start. They should be fairly evenly matched otherwise and the price difference here is unjustified. Good e/w chance.
(12) Naval College goes without saying he’s a main hope in this race. Should get every favour from gate 4 and after winning last start with 3kg more he should be hard to beat this time.
(4) Torrens may be the forgotten horse in this race. He’s been racing well his last few starts and is a big price here. Not out of it.
(9) Touristic E/W

Race 9: Toyota Forklifts (Bm78) - 1200m (16:35 AEDT)
(8) Boston Rocks won 1st up last start and can repeat that here. The two main dangers are get-back run-on horses who will spot this bloke a start.
(5) Pereille has taken on some strong fields in his career including a 2nd to Garza Blanca and a 6th placing in a Bm88. He’s a top hope if he can return well fresh.
(11) Union Army wasn’t far off Boston Rocks last time they met. The difference was how far back this horse was compared to the winner. The same looks likely again this time.
