Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, February 1st 2025

Race 5: Asahi Super Dry BM72 – 1200m - 2:50pm (AEDT)

(1) Panic: Resuming 4YO Gelding who has a handy resume with 4 wins from 9 attempts. He goes well fresh and on the soft track. Draws pole and gets in nicely with a 3kg claim engaged. He will be in this for a long way. Blow out hope.

(3) Lilac: 3YO Filly who is resuming today and gets right back in grade for her first up run. She has had two trials leading in and they have both been very good with her most recent being rather eye catching winning by 6L and was hardly touched. (Trialled against other group/listed horses). She has commenced her career nicely and must be respected amongst this field. She was gritty in her maiden win and then again behind PRIVATE LIFE over this distance in a BM64. PRIVATE LIFE went on to win a Group One after that. This filly then tackled listed grade and led from start to finish and held off a fast-finishing DELICHY BOULEVARD with gaps to third. I am happy to have something on this filly with her recent form lines and with the way she has trialled leading into this.

(6) Polyghot: 3YO gelding who won well first up over 1100m and loves the soft track. Id expect him to be improving again and 1200m doesn’t look to be an issue. Remains at the same grade and only goes up half a kilo. J-Mac stays on. Sticky gate the only concern. Main danger.

(3) Lilac

$3.70 (2 units)

Race 8: Schweppes Southern Cross Stakes - 1200m - 4:35pm (AEDT)

(1) Hard To Say: 5YO Gelding who has been racing well enough and has been hitting the line nicely. He has been plonked $12 into $6 in the early market with no scratchings. Comes down from QLD and has ran well at this track in the past. J-Mac to steer. Looks a danger. Only concern is he is yet to win beyond 1100m.

(2) Brudenell: 6YO who wasn’t all that far away over this grade/trip last start. Proven wet tracker and will be fitter for this third up. Will be improving.

(9) Accredited: 5YO Gelding who has won his last 3 and was only narrowly beaten first up. Chasing four in a row and gets in super light for this, but this is a much tougher test. Prefer him on the dry ground, but he will be around the mark.

(2) Brudenell E/W

$12/$2.80 (1u/2u)

Race 9: Inglis Classic Yearling Sale 9-11 Feb BM88- 1200m – 5:15pm (AEDT)

(4) Inhibitions: 4YO Mare who has been racing well and has a terrific record over this trip. J-Mac gets back into the saddle, and she maps nicely to get a trail into the race and will be launching late. Best is good enough.

(14) Spring Lee: We tipped this mare first up and she was plonked into $2.50, but just left it a little too late to pick them up. She will be benefitting from the run though and looks another danger here. Terrific record on the soft, so must be considered.

(15) No Drama: Resuming 5YO Gelding who boasts a terrific first up record and gets a nice draw which should allow him to roll forward and dictate. Tim Clark to steer who is the best front running jockey going around. Proven wet tracker and looks over the odds. Blow out hope.

Also Backing: (15) No Drama $15/$3.60 (0.5 E/W)

(14) Spring Lee

$3.60 (1.5 units)
