There’s racing on the Randwick-Kensington course this Wednesday and what an exciting card ahead. Weather is scorching hot this week in Sydney so plenty of horses will be sweating up and overdoing it in the conditions. Looking forward to seeing what the day produces.

Randwick Racing Tips – Wednesday, March 8th 2023
Race 3
(4) Captain Amelia gets the nod here after the scratching of Ballroom Bella. She’s the obvious choice here having flashed home in her only trial under James McDonald. She’ll run well here if she produces a similar performance on race day from a respectable John O’Shea stable
(1) Gold Lover can use her race experience to her advantage here and potentially outperform her rivals with that edge and some extra fitness. She was 2nd on debut at Hawkesbury so clearly has some ability.
(8) Saikono has trialled well enough for an extremely capable and well-respected trainer of young horses in the Waterhouse and Bott team. She’ll run well on debut here.
(4) Captain Amelia - Win
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 5
(4) Journalism is benefited by a lack of speed engaged in this race. He should be able to find the lead from a good gate here over the 1550m which the horse has performed well over in the past. He’s a great e/w price given the shape of this race and how well it sets up on paper.
(2) Kokoro is the clear danger as an odds-on favourite. He ran 2nd to Lindermann last time who led all the way and has since attempted black-type racing on Saturday gone. Kokoro maps well enough and should be hard to beat.
(3) Jupitus rounds out a fairly obvious top 3 here after winning nicely 1st up and possessing far better 2nd up stats than he does 1st up. James McDonald aboard from gate 1 should give the horse every chance to run well.
(4) Journalism - Each Way
$7/$1.80 (1 Unit)
Race 6
(3) Hypothetical looks like he’s going to have it all against him from the wide gate on Wednesday. He should get a cart across from Custodian and has found a race that lacks speed. From a forward position he should be very hard to beat.
(5) Arbitration showed a glimpse of what he’s capable of in his recent trial flashing up the rail to win narrowly. He should be ready to run well here for the Godolphin team who are flying of late.
(4) Never Second is quite a nice price considering he won 1st up and may have been entitled to fall off slightly 2nd up. Could be back better here now 3rd up?
(3) Hypothetical – Win
$3 (2 Units)
Race 7
*SCRATCHED* (11) Atlantic Ocean is a horse that has been under close watch by the team having performed well in some of his recent outings. Last start he was a touch disappointing when selected on top but gets blinkers applied here and can improve significantly.
(2) Hollywood North has to deal with a wide gate here but with James McDonald aboard may be able to do so. If he finds himself a nice enough spot in the run he should be in the finish.
(14) Secaution blew away his rivals last time when 1st up and could go on with it here. 2nd up syndrome is real though and the horse is drawn out in the carpark.
