Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, March 8th 2025
Race 2: Jericho Group Fireball Stakes – 1100m – 12:55pm (AEDT)
(2) Drifting $7.50/$2.30: Value pick of the race who maps perfectly and rates well. Happy to forgive her first up run as she just went too hard and tired late. She has trialled since and looked good. She can bounce back here and looks a great each way chance. Goes well.
(3) Zeitung $4.50: 3YO Filly who has showed she is talented and was impressive during her spring. She has trialled well and must be considered for this race first up. Only concern is the wide draw and she maps to get a wide run throughout. The girls have a nice record though in recent history. Chance.
(4) Yoshinobu $3.40: YO Colt who is group 2 placed which must be respected. His most recent trial was rather impressive to watch also. J-mac gets into the saddle and id expect him to be around the mark. Wide draw is the only concern. Watch for him late.
(2) Drifting E/W
$7.50/$2.30 (1U/2U)
Race 6: Schweppes Challenge Stakes - 1000m - 3:15pm (AEDT)
(3) Kallos $9.50/$2.50: 6YO gelding who I was bullish on last prep and he was terrific in defeat first up behind Recommendation and then was far from disgraced in his 2 other runs. He looks to have returned nicely with a fantastic trial. Draws well and if he doesn’t get too far back he looks to be right in this. Proven first up and over this trip. Goes well.
(8) Givemethebeatboys $17/$3.75: 4YO who made an Australian Debut last start and led throughout before being tackled late. Only 1.9L off the winner though over 1200m. Scratched at the gates last week, so ready again for this. Looks suited to 1000m off that first up run and maps to lead. Looks over the odds and will take catching. If the track remains soft id be inclined to have a go.
(9) I Am Me $3.20: 6YO Mare who boasts a pretty good record and looks suited back in grade now. First up run was a tough ask at Group 1 level with the top weight. J-Mac gets back into the saddle and she is rated on top. Maps well and should be in the finish. Only query is if the track stays soft. If the track is good on race day id be loading the gun.
Also Backing: (3) Kallos (1 Unit)
(9) I Am Me
$3.20 (2.5 Units)
Race 8: Toyota Forklifts Canterbury Stakes - 1300m – 4:30pm (AEDT)
(1) Ceolwulf $8.50/$2.50: 4YO gelding who had a break out season last prep and would have gained plenty of followers. He was good first up finishing 1.5L off Fangirl over 1400m. He then suffered a minor injury to his hind leg which saw him scratched last week. If he is fully fit again he must be a chance here. Value.
(9) Sunshine In Paris $6.50/$2.20: 5YO Mare who resumes today and has trialled beautifully leading in. He knocked over Jolistar first up last campaign and then had two other good hitouts before finishing her campaign off with a group 1 win at Flemington. Rates well here and must be respected. Only concern is the wide draw, but happy to take some luck there. On top.
(11) Stefi Magnetica $8.00/$2.40: 4YO Mare who looks to only be improving, she has some terrific form lines and has been unlucky on several occasions where she probably should have notched up a few extra wins. Has trialled well and must be included.
(9) Sunshine In Paris E/W
$6.50/$2.20 (1U/2U)
