It’ll be a day of mixed emotions at Randwick this Saturday with the race named in Verry Elleegant’s honour headlining the card along with the Surround Stakes. Fangirl looked unbeatable in her return and will be just that again this time if she’s at the same level 2nd up.

Race 3: Tab Highway Hcp (C3) - 1000m (13:40 AEST)
(2) Perennial is untapped. He’s won all 3 of his races to date by a margin of around 1.5L comfortably. This is a step up but one he’s clearly capable of making, particularly with a good draw and likely soft run in transit.
(5) Once Again My Girl is quickly becoming the serially overhyped. She may be talented, but she really hasn’t given much value to her backers, starting favourite in her last 3 races and winning none of them. This needs to change.
(11) Everylittle Breeze gets a decent run here. This mare is a huge price and she gets 3kg off for the apprentice aboard. One at big odds worth considering.

Race 8: Group 1 Drinkwise Surround Stakes - 1400m (16:35 AEST)
(3) Kimochi. Need i say more? This filly was a supreme talent who never landed the cash last prep and has come back to racing this season for vengeance. She’s started perfectly and can go on with it this prep. Personal favourite of the 3yo’s.
(4) Learning To Fly is the obvious duelist for this race. The two battled it out first up and will likely become the head-to-head matchup of the Autumn.
(1) Tropical Squall gets in the numbers here with strong form around Kimochi last prep. She’s well-drawn and can lead or settle ahead of the main competition here.

Race 9: Group 2 Proven Thoroughbreds Guy Walter Stakes - 1400m (17:15 AEST)
(2) Hinged has her name written all over this race. She goes great fresh with the 1400m at Randwick her bread and butter. She should assume control of the race and be hard to run down.
(1) Duais is the other big gun resuming in this race. She didn’t win a race last prep but was impressive in a few attempts. Short of her best distance but class will take her a long way.
(7) Miss Faberge goes in for 3rd drawing gate 1 with a strong record here at this trip. She needs to step up here to win but should get a nice enough run to be competitive in the minors.
