The All-Star break is over, so let’s get back to business.
Yesterday we saw the opener in a three game series at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The hometown Giants got the job done through Buster Posey and Hunter Pence. The final score was 2-0 with a great pitching effort from starter Chad Gaudin. He kept the Diamondbacks scoreless for seven innings before the relievers stepped in to finish the job.
To come out after the break and win the first game at home was clearly a high priority for the Giants.
Tonight we will see a different game.
Matt Cain will start for the Giants. He is really struggling this season. The 28 year old from Alabama has lasted a total of only 3 innings in his last 2 games. Look for the Diamondbacks to take advantage early. Cain is 13-6 lifetime vs Diamondbacks.
The Diamondback’s Wade Miley on the other hand is pitching well. He is a healthy 6-7 this season, with a modest 4.01 ERA. A bold effort will be expected tonight. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson admitted, "they just shut us down" last time. That won’t happen again as we will see a big effort on offense from the NL West leaders Arizona Diamondbacks.
With the Diamondbacks showing plenty of value, we are recommending just a small play on today’s underdogs.
