Flemington will unleash a huge 10-race program on Gold Coast Magic Millions day, and it's a pretty good backup card too. With warm weather and no rain about, the track will remain a Good 4 with the first event kicking off at 12:20pm (AEDT). My three best bets of the program are below!
Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, January 11th 2025
Race 3: Jockey Acknowledgement Plate - 1:23pm (AEDT)
(1) Smokin’ Princess won well last start and Flemington look like a good choice of track with her running style being one which needs a long straight to wind up. Was well back at Pakenham last start after being backed in and almost got there after being 10th on the home turn. Tom Prebble is on and racing against the girls only here looks ideal for the Princess.
(2) Keep Your Cool has drawn well in 2 and is going for three on the bounce including her fourth on Dry ground. First try at the mile but is in good hands being in the Maher stable.
(3) Seeking Stardom has only ever raced on Good tracks and has run well in SA. Murray Bridge winner at latest start but this is harder.
(1) Smokin’ Princess E/W
$4.50/$1.60 (1U/2U)
Race 5: Victorian Jockeys Association Trophy - 2:33pm (AEDT)
(5) New York Lustre won a Cranbourne jumpout on December 16 before smashing them at Seymour on December 29. Blake Shinn was on that day but is replaced by Jamie Kah here so another experienced hoop takes the reins. Her times are fast and she is suited by another try over the 1000m despite this being her toughest assignment to date. The Jusufovic Stable is in fine form and if we get odds on it's worth a play.
(6) Mr Magnus has been in the money in 6 0f 7 starts on Dry ground and he does run on well so may appreciate Flemington. Has run well over the 1000m before.
(4) Trapeze Warrior has won for Tom Stockdale before and has won over the 1000m. Drops back to this distance after a poor run over 1200m last start. Might improve.
(5) New York Lustre
$2.00 (3 Units)
Race 9: Off The Track Trophy - 4:58pm (AEDT)
(10) Le Zebra won a jumpout at Pakenham on NYE and is ready to fire here for Emma Browne and Jamie Kah. He is resuming and despite never winning on Dry ground in 9 attempts, he has raced in better class than this before and he does seem to like Flemington having won here twice previously. Before his break he ran a good 2nd behind Alma Rise when Damien Lane was on. Is ready to go well again despite no win in 6 months. Barrier 1 helps to get a cushy run here I reckon.
(2) So Risque is good value because he goes better on Dry tracks. He is fitter now and has finished in the money in 60 percent of his races for Team Hayes. Was 7th at Randwick last start and the run was better than it looks on form.
(13) Van Roy almost got the win at The Valley after leading last start and he is likely to lead for a long way here. He will be about $4.00 a Place which looks overs. Will give a good sight.
(10) Le Zebra E/W
$3.80/$1.70 (1U/2U)
