Flemington Racing Tips

Legends Day awaits punters to conclude the four-day Flemington Carnival on SaturdayThe old “Stakes Day” is becoming more and more popular every year and this weekend has another fantastic turnout of racehorses. Every race has been covered below, and let’s hope we can conclude the week with a win after some mixed results over the past few days. Race 1 starts at 12:40pm (AEDT), and gallopers should be running on a Good 4 surface.

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, November 9th 2024

Race 1: Ronald McDonald House Charities- 12:40pm (AEDT)

(9) Angland will likely go forward again in this race after he did just that at Murray Bridge when winning last start. From barrier 6 I reckon Michael Dee might try and look for some cover and either sit in 3rd or 4th position in the run. He drops 2.5kg for this race but this is obviously harder than the Bridge.

(1) Nations Call knows how to win but most of his wins have been on Soft tracks. He led all of the way at Moe last start and from barrier 2 he may lead this race.

(5) Prince Eric has won 4 from 7 and has won all races over this distance. Declan Bates stays on and Eric did jumpout well on October 21 at Horsham.

(9) Angland

$3.50 (2 Units)

Race 2: Inglis Banner - 1:15pm (AEDT)

(11) Within The Law gets the nod in a race which is probably the toughest of the day. First starter for Bjorn Baker and he doesn’t bring them to Flemington without a plan.

(8) Chisholm is another first starter and Chad Schofield rides. I see he has had early market support so has to be included.

(3) Latin Boss for the Hayes boys draws wide in 11 but that may be the place to be on the last day of the carnival.

Tip: No Bet

Race 3: Queen Elizabeth Stakes Group 3 - 1:50pm (AEDT)

(7) Kinesiology has been runner-up four times in a row but is rock hard fit now for Waller. The colt has never missed a top 3 finish on Dry ground the stable is likely to have Damien Lane position him up in around 3rd position at his first Australian start.

(1) Serpentine is another who is likely to go forward and JMac has gone with this horse over Waller’s. He has won 5 from 19 on Dry ground and this is probably his Grand Final.

(8) Star Vega was 3rd in the Bendigo Cup behind Sea King and is the one who will be charging home late.

(7) Kinesiology

$2.80 (3 Units)

Race 4: Cirka Always Welcome Stakes - 2:30pm (AEDT)

(14) Moby Dick was poor last start when favourite behind Barber who he faces again here. The stable must be confident he is fine and punters will get bigger odds on Saturday. It's his 2nd try at the 1200m and I reckon he will improve from Geelong’s run. Lane sticks with him.

(10) Garza Blanca resumes here and he love this distance. He won a Cranbourne jumpout on October 28 and Willow is on.

(1) Front Page has won 7 times over this distance but does have 59.5kg to carry this time. He was a 3L 4th behind Antino two starts back after leading.

(14) Moby Dick Each-Way

$14/$3.80 (1 Unit)

Race 5: TAB Matriarch Stakes Group 2 - 3:10pm (AEDT)

(14) Firestorm was 5th at The Valley when backed off the map last start but Flemington will be better for this mare. She won 2 races at Rosehill before that and Lane stays on. She will get back in the run but there is a little bit of pace in this and I reckon the middle of the track will be the place to be.

(7) Hinged almost got there at Rosehill last start (3rd) and will be running on again. JMac will likely position her a length or two in front of Firestorm and the Waller runners may battle it out.

(2) Molly Bloom would make it a Waller trifecta. Likes Dry ground, is 4th up and 100 percent fit now and is over the odds.

(14) Firestorm Each-Way

$6.00/$2.10 (1 Unit)

Race 6: Darley Champions Sprint GROUP 1 - 3:50pm (AEDT)

(7) Lady Laguna is huge odds but I will go the Place here in the high-quality race. This is her Grand Final, whereas a lot of the other horses were set for races a couple of weeks ago. The Lady has been getting fitter with each run and is ready now. A Good track is ideal and she was only 2.98L behind Bella Nipotina in that race but is $30 more in betting. Very small play.

(5) Bella Nipotina is going for three in a row after winning The Everest and the Russell Balding. Does draw barrier 12 which might make it hard if they aren't coming down the outside.

(2) Overpass is the likely leader and did just that when winning the Sydney Stakes last start. Has won 7 from 15 over the 1200m but he might be a sitting duck at the 100m.

(7) Lady Laguna Place

$7.00 (1 Unit)

Race 7: VRC Champions Mile GROUP 1 – 4:30pm (AEDT)

(4) Antino was huge when Blake Shinn took off at the 600m mark and he held on in the Toorak and on a preferred Dry ground and at Flemington I think he can win again. He does have barrier 12 but will get back anyway. Mark Zahra is on this time and will be looking to make it Antino’s first Flemington win. He was 3rd at Flemington in the Makybe Diva but he is at full fitness now.

(2) My Oberon is over the odds. He was 3rd in the King Charles on Soft ground but he likes Dry ground better. Has won 5 from 21 starts over the mile.

(6) Another Wil faces his toughest test yet. He won the Linlithgow on Derby Day which made it 2 from 2 at Flemington. Has won 6 from 7 starts on Good tracks.

(4) Antino Each-Way

$6.00/ $2.10 (1 Unit)

Race 8: TAB Champions Stakes GROUP 1 – 5:10pm (AEDT)

(10) Via Sistina was the dominant 8L Cox Plate winner and is obviously a deserved short-priced favourite. She remains at the 2000m despite thoughts about going to the Melbourne Cup during the week. She has won at Flemington previously and the race looks like it will be run to suit with Deny Knowledge and Eliyass likely to set good tempo for her to hook out from midfield again. From barrier 4 should be able to get a gun run.

(6) Eliyass will go forward for the Waterhouse & Bott Team and try to put the brakes on midrace. However as stated above, there is another horse that looks likes to roll along which might make that tough. She drops back in distance after her Caulfield Cup 10th and does like Dry ground. Has won at headquarters before.

(7) Docklands got tired late in the Cox Plate 5th but I don't think the Harry Eustace Stable would keep him out here if he wasn’t ready for this. He was first up in the Plate and he may have improved from the run where others may have peaked.

(10) Via Sistina

$1.65 (5 Units)

Race 9: World Horse Racing Grand Handicap – 5:50pm (AEDT)

(5) Keenan has barrier 16 and will get to the outside fence (close to it) I reckon. He was only beaten 1.5L in the Fireball when 4th and his early speed will see him position up 3rd or 4th just behind the leaders in this I reckon. He is resuming and Gai and Adrian may have an ace to pull in the last race of the Flemington Carnival.

(4) Along The River has won 5 from 17 on Good tracks and barrier 19 might be a good get in the last. He has won 2 over this distance but his Flemington form is poor which is concerning.

(10) Pisanello is the likely fav and is a last start winner. Has drawn 1 through so will need a JMac special like he did on Oaks Day up the straight to win. Likes the distance and likes Dry tracks. First try at Flemington.

(5) Keenan Each-Way

$9.00/$2.90 (1 Unit)
