Sandown’s Lakeside circuit will host midweek racing in Victoria with eight races on their Wednesdayprogram. The maidens get us underway in Race 1 which starts at 12:25pm (AEST), and our first of three bets comes up with the Ciaron Maher runner, Fontaine Rouge, looking likely. Runners will likely be running on a Good track.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 5th 2024
Race 1: Sportsbet Nobody Does It Easier Plate - 12:25pm (AEST)
(4) Fontaine Rouge ran on well for 3rd at Cranbourne last start and the extra 200m in distance here looks ideal in what is an ordinary Wednesday maiden. Kah is on and the $1.90 which is currently on offer actually looks overs. The filly started $1.40 last start and with more fitness on her side she should be winning.
(2) Red Galaxy is the main danger and from barrier 2 might lead. Williams is on top and the gelding almost led all of the way at Pakenham (Soft) last start. I would be surprised if these two don't quinella the race.
(1) Buzz City led but folded late when 2nd at Pakenham last start. The rise in distance is a slight concern on that I think but he hasn’t missed a placing in his short career a yet.
(4) Fontaine Rouge
$1.90 (3 Units)
Race 2: The Importer Handicap - 1pm (AEST)
*SCRATCHED* (1) Just For Show should be nearly winning this but needs to get out of the barrier better this time. He missed the jump by 2L at Pakenham and was trapped for a run for about 200m but the run prior was very good when 3rd at Caulfield in what was a harder race than this. Up to 1400m here and gets his first try on a Good surface and if he jumps well he should be settling around 3rd or 4th in this.
(2) Omanyala led all of the way at Wodonga on a good surface but this is a little harder. Shinn takes the ride and from barrier 8 will likely push over again to either lead or sit outside the leader.
(3) Golden Warrior had the gun run when favourite last start and saluted. Johnny Allen rides again after winning that day and he is a big chance again for the in-form Anthony &S am Freedman stable.
Race 5: Happy 70th Birthday Peter Helme - 2:45pm (AEST)
(8) Derozario has drawn well in barrier 2 and should get a gun run in around 3rd position early. He was 2nd at Hillside last start over 1800m with Lane on and Damien has decided to stick with him here with the extra 300m in trip he faces here. He drops 2.5kg in weight which is a factor and he won pretty easily at Cranbourne over 2000m two starts back. He trialed up at Cranbourne last week (3rd) to get more fitness for this 2100m race and he should be running top 3.
(6) Preferential was an easy 2L Stawell winner last start. Harder here but the mare has already won two races on Good tracks.
(4) Rule Of Time finished just behind Derozario last start but is almost double figures in the market. Gets the inside barrier and with a nice run should be in the mix at the end on a surface that she has proven herself on.
(8) Derozario E/W
$4.80/$1.90 (1 Unit)
