Scone Racing Tips: Saturday, May 18th 2024
Race 2: TAB Highway Hcp Class 3 – 11:40pm (AEST)
(1) Rematch $4.00: 4yo gelding who was enormous last start in tougher grade carrying 63kg. He peeled out around the corner and was super strong to the line, but the weight clearly played a role there. Gaps to the others behind him. He goes back to Class 3 grade now where he won 4 back. Jumped well that day and ended up in front on the turn showing grit to hold them off to score. He gets a nice 3kg claim today and draws low. Expect him to jump well and get a nice sit closer allowing for him to kick away on the corner again. If he happens to get shuffled back he is more than capable of peeling out and swooping the front runners, but will require some luck. Proven over this trip and rock hard fit now third up.
(15) Toes In The Water $8.50/$2.90: 3YO filly who is unbeaten on the soft track from two attempts and wasn’t that far away at all last start. Handy resume and gets a 3kg claim today. Expect another bold run. Draws well to figure.
(1) Rematch E/W
$4.00 (1 Unit)
Race 6: Yarraman Park Denise’s Joy Stakes 1100m - 2:00pm (AEST)
(1) Ballroom Bella $21/$5.00: 3YO filly who was superb in Group 2 company last start and has since had a nice trial prior to this run now. Drew a wide gate in the G2 and jumped well to get a nice run in transit and finished second behind WEE NESSY who has since gone on to gap third in another G2 WFA with ANTINO the only one to beat her there. There has been two other subsequent winners out of her last race which shows how good she was that day. She drops back to 1100m now which looks perfect as she tired in that last 100-200m of the G2 run. She should be in tip top order for this, but will require that early gate speed again as she got struck with another wide draw. If she jumps and gets a on the pace, she will be in the finish here. Over the odds.
(14) Spring Lee $2.70: 3YO filly we tipped during the week last start and got the chocolates. Terrific record and King remains in the saddle. Early market support suggests she is the one to beat. Expect another good run and she loves the wet track.
Also Backing: (14) Spring Lee $2.70 – Win (2.5 Units)
(1) Ballroom Bella E/W
$21/$5.00 (0.5 Units)
Race 7: Emirates Park Ortensia Stakes 2:35pm (AEST)
(6) Opal Ridge $5.00/$2.00: 4YO mare who is pure class and if she has returned in good order, which her two trials appear to show that she is in going well should be giving this a red-hot crack. She draws a sticky gate, but expect her to jump well and get into a suitable position. She is back at her home track here where she is unbeaten and boasts an impressive first up record with 3 wins and a second from four attempts. Key booking of Tommy BERRY and looks value at an each way price against these others.
(15) Iowna Merc $4.80: 4YO gelding who resumes today after being okay last prep. He boasts a nice first up record and is proven on the soft track along with this distance. Comes into this off a nice trial win and demands some respect on previous form. Draws a sticky gate, so will need all things to go right, but will be around the mark.
(6) Opal Ridge E/W
$5.00/$2.00 (2U/3U)
