NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, November 5th 2024

Memphis Grizzlies at Brooklyn Nets (11:45am AEDT)

After a 2-3 start to the season, the Grizzlies have gone above .500 with back-to-back double-figure wins against the Bucks and the 76ers. Ja Morant has been in sizzling form with five double-doubles from six outings, and had a monster triple-double against the Bucks two starts back. The bad news for the Grizzlies is both Marcus Smart and Desmond Bane will miss Tuesday’s trip to Brooklyn due to injury.

The Nets are one of many rebuilding teams in the 2024-25 NBA season but have been able to tick over the win column early on. They’re currently 3-4 with their most recent result being a 14-point loss at home against the Pistons. Cam Thomas (26.6ppg) and Dennis Schroder (19.9ppg, 7.4apg) have been their standout performers thus far.

It’s a busy part of the schedule for the Nets who will be playing their second leg of a back-to-back as well as their third game in four days. They already looked fatigued in their cheap loss to the Pistons on Monday and I don’t have much hope for them bouncing back a day later. Take the Grizzlies to cover the small handicap here.

Grizzlies -5.5

$1.91 (1 Unit)

Sacramento Kings at Miami Heat (12:15pm AEDT)

The Kings were busy in the offseason and their main move was bringing in DeMar DeRozan, and it’s been so far so good for the former Bull who’s averaging a tick over 25 points per game. Unfortunately, his high-level production hasn’t necessarily been resulting in wins, as the Kings enter Tuesday’s slate coming off an overtime loss against the heavily undermanned Raptors. The Kings are now an even 3-3 on the season.

The Heat have had a quiet schedule to start the season with only five games under their belts so far, all of which have been against Eastern Conference rivals. They enter Tuesday with a 3-2 record and will take on a Western Conference team for the first time. Most recently, the Heat easily accounted for the Wizards with a 20-point win, and no starter logged more than 31 minutes.

This is the third game in four days for the Kings on their current road trip, which means fatigue is certain to be a genuine factor here. On top of that, they had to play an extra five minutes in Toronto on Sunday. Travelling to Miami and coming away with a win is difficult at the best of times, and I suspect they won’t have the juice to achieve that outcome on this occasion.

Heat to Win

$1.76 (2.5 Units)

Philadelphia 76ers at Phoenix Suns (2:15pm AEDT)

The wounded 76ers have had a nightmare start to their campaign, tallying just one win from their opening five matches, and that came in overtime against the Pacers three games back. On top of that, all four of their defeats have been by 8+ points, and their last two have been by a combined 27 points. Joel Embiid will miss again on Tuesday, while Paul George is currently listed as questionable to make his Sixers debut.

The Suns have enjoyed a much better start to this campaign compared to last, and enter this slate on a four-game win streak and a 5-1 record overall. They’ve shown the ability to overcome large deficits to win on a couple of occasions already this season, and have also been better at closing out games. On the injury front, Bradley Beal is currently listed as questionable as he battles through an elbow injury.

As mentioned above, all four of the 76ers defeats have been by 8+ points, so there’s already value in the Suns at the -7 line here. Add in home court and a health advantage on top of that, and I’m more than happy to back the Suns to win this game comfortably.

Suns -7.0

$1.90 (2 Units)
