NBA Betting Tips: Saturday, March 1st 2025
Denver Nuggets at Detroit Pistons (11:00am AEDT)
The Nuggets (38-21) take on the Pistons (33-26) in a match-up between two of the NBA's in-form teams. Denver has won 10 of its last 12 games, while Detroit is on an impressive eight-game winning streak. The Pistons are coming off a dominant 20-point victory over the reigning champion Celtics, showing their ability to compete with the league’s best. Despite their strong form, the Nuggets lost their last game but remain a powerhouse in the West.
When these teams met in December, the Nuggets secured a 13-point win at home, but the Pistons are a much-improved side. Their defence has tightened, and they are playing with confidence, as shown in their recent demolition of Boston. Detroit has been especially strong at home, using their energy and intensity to disrupt opponents. Their ability to control the boards and limit second-chance points has been a key factor in their resurgence.
Denver remains a serious threat with one of the league’s most efficient offences. Their ball movement and shooting ability make them difficult to contain, but Detroit’s momentum and home-court advantage could be the difference. The Pistons are playing inspired basketball, and I believe they have what it takes to extend their winning streak to nine.

Portland Trail Blazers at Brooklyn Nets
The Trail Blazers (26-33) visit the Nets (21-37) in a match-up between two teams outperforming expectations in what were expected to be rebuilding seasons. Portland has been one of the form teams in the NBA, winning 13 of its last 18 games, including three in a row. They have also found success on the road, winning two straight and five of their last eight away from home. Their ability to compete at a high level despite early-season struggles has made them a dangerous opponent.
Brooklyn has also shown resilience, winning seven of its last 11 games despite dropping its last two. The Nets have remained competitive, finding ways to stay in games and secure wins against strong opposition. While they lack the star power of recent seasons, their balanced play has kept them in the fight in the Eastern Conference. However, they face a tough test against a Trail Blazers side that has been surging.
Portland has been underestimated for much of the season, and the odds for this game seem to overlook their sustained form. If they continue playing at their current level, they should be able to take advantage of a Nets side that has recently stumbled and come away with the win.

Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers
The Lakers (36-22) take on the Clippers (32-26) in a battle for Los Angeles, with both teams heading in opposite directions. The Clippers have struggled recently, winning just four of their last 10 games, and only narrowly edged past an undermanned Bulls side last game. They now sit sixth in the West, looking to rediscover the consistency that made them an early-season contender. Their defence has been shaky, and they will need a much stronger performance to keep pace with their in-form city rivals.
The Lakers, after a slow start integrating Luka Doncic, have found their rhythm and now look like serious championship contenders. They have won four straight and 16 of their last 20 games, surging up the Western Conference standings. LeBron James continues to lead by example and was utterly dominant against the Timberwolves in their most recent outing, and the Lakers appear to be peaking at the right time.
The Lakers also dominated the last meeting between these teams, securing a wire-to-wire 25-point victory. Given their current form and the Clippers’ struggles, the Lakers should be considered favourites in this match-up. As long as they maintain their level of play, then they should be winning this one comfortably, and I'm happy to back them in as a result.
