NBA Betting Tips: Tuesday, January 9th 2024
Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers
Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 11am AEDT
Set to meet for the fourth time this season this Tuesday are the Celtics and the Pacers. The Celtics lead the season series 2-1 after winning the first and third meetings, with their most recent matchup coming just a couple of days ago in Indianapolis. The Celtics shot just shy of 40% in their comfortable 118-101 road win, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combining for 69 points on the night. That win improved the Celtics’ road record to a more than respectable 11-7 on the season, although it’s nothing like their incredible 17-0 home record. Meanwhile, the Pacers will be looking to immediately hit back after that loss which snapped a six-game win streak which was their highest such screen in over three years. In contrast to the Celtics, the Pacers shot just 19% from three in their recent clash, which a percentage they will almost surely improve on this Tuesday. On top of that, the Celtics are a chance to be without Tatum as well as Porzingis, as both are under an injury cloud and listed as questionable to play. If one or both of these guys are out, which I suspect will be the case, the Pacers are fantastic value to bounce back with a win.

Houston Rockets at Miami Heat
Kaseya Center, 11:30am AEDT
The Rockets have just finished a monster seven-game homestand where they’ll be disappointed to have gone 3-4. They now hit the road for the first time since December 23rd to take on the Miami Heat. Conversely, the Heat have just finished a lengthy five-game road trip where they managed to come away with two wins. The Heat will be pleased to be home considering they’ve won three of their last four at the Kaseya Center and 9/15 on the season to date. They’ve also won six straight home games against the Rockets. The Rockets have enjoyed an improved 2023-24 campaign to date but they’ve still found it incredibly difficult on the road, winning only three times from 13 attempts. And although the Heat will be without Jimmy Butler once again, I’m still happy to oppose the Rockets anywhere outside of Houston.

Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Clippers
Crypto.com Arena, 2:30pm AEDT
The Suns will be on the second night of a back-to-back when they head to Los Angeles on Tuesday to take on the Clippers. The Suns fell apart in the fourth quarter on Monday having their ‘big three’ at their disposal, suffering defeat despite being up by double-digits heading into the final frame. It’s been a tough campaign on all fronts for the Suns to date and it won’t get any easier on Tuesday when they take on the form team of the competition. The Clippers, after a shaky start, have been firing on all cylinders over the past two months. They’ve won 14 of their last 17 games including nine of their last 10 on their home deck. On top of that, they recently defeated the Suns in Phoenix by nine points, leading the way from start to finish. Needless to say, the Clippers are the deserving favourites and should be able to cover the spread at home in this one.
Los Angeles Clippers -6.5
