The Valley will host the last Saturday race meeting of 2024 as racegoers flock to the popular circuit still in Christmas celebrations. The first of 10 races starts at 12:15pm (AEDT), with the long distance race over 3000m. The track will remain Good and my best three plays of the day are below!
Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, December 28th 2024
Race 3: Big Swing Golf Handicap - 1:20pm (AEDT)
(6) Boltsaver is a get back type who gets a senior jockey here in Blake Shinn. He was just fair at Caulfield Heath last start when 9th but was far too good for his rivals at Wodonga the start prior. Barrier 4 seems ideal here after drawing poorly last start (12) and there is a bit of early pace in this race which should suit him at the end.
(2) Georgie Get Mad has placed twice at The Valley previously and should get a gun run in around the midfield position. Goes better after a couple of runs in and Keane has won 3 times on top.
(3) Belthil has won 5 races from 11 starts on Good tracks and should run better at this second start over the mile. Prebble goes on after winning on top last time.
(6) Boltsaver
$4.20 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Josh Freake’s Bucks Handicap - 2:30pm (AEDT)
(8) Mytemptation is 2 from 2 on a Good track and has the in-form Williams on. He was wide but still won on debut and then backed that up at Caulfield Heath to score when given a gem of a ride. He has already won over this distance and Williams will come over from barrier 9 to sit in the one-one I reckon. Just his third start and the Jusufovic Stable have had a good 2024.
(2) Intrepid Eagle is very consistent on Good tracks and is a last start winner (Caulfield Heath). He is very fit now and has drawn well. Kennedy gets the claim of 2kg.
(6) Nation State goes well over this distance and is over the odds I reckon. Mertens is 2 from 2 when on top and a Place bet may be best.
(8) Mytemptation
$3.20 (2 Units)
Race 10: Bottle Shop After The Last Handicap - 5:40pm (AEDT)
(15) Fission has drawn the inside and might get the last crack at them over the final 100m. He hasn’t won in almost two years but has run some nice races including a close 4th at this track on November 1. He is rock hard fit and likes Dry ground. Needs to improve over this journey though. Coffey rides for the first time.
(5) Anilla is another who likes Dry ground and he has been successful over this distance previously. Is double figure odds and worth a Place bet.
(8) Shalaman has drawn wide in 12 but his best is good enough. He struggled before his spell but the Bedgood Team are in form and he did run a good 3rd at Caulfield two starts back.
(15) Fission
$6.50 (1 Unit)
