Moonee Valley will host Friday night racing on the eve of Group 1 All Star Mile Day at Flemington with a large crowd expected on course. The weather is expected to be warm and the track will be rated as Good. We have three key bets for the meeting below, with the first of eight starting at 6:15pm (AEDT)!

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, March 7th 2025
Race 3: Cool Ridge Handicap - 7:15pm (AEDT)
(8) Shehungthemoon will likely lead this race and if the rails are on, she should go very close. Last start she smashed them (6L) at Kyneton on a Good surface and her splits suggest she can run a fast time here. First look at The Valley though and gets a senior rider in Ben Melham on for her first city run.
(1) Stage ‘N” Screen has drawn the inside so may punch up behind Shehungthemoon if she does lead which would be a good result. She is first up for Michael Walker and she goes well fresh.
(6) Meh Keffi will likely get back here but if they go hard like they did at Moe when she won, she could be the blowout chance. That win as over this distance and she has drawn well in 2.
(8) Shehungthemoon WIN
$4.20 (1 Unit)
Race 4: Pepsi Max Handicap - 7:45pm (AEDT)
(1) Close To Midnight might lead for Ben Allen in the hope of controlling the speed here. He tried just that in his last start before his spell but he got tired and peaked on his run to finish well back. He was 2nd in a jumpout last week and from all reports it was a good hitout behind talented Arkansaw Kid. Has won over this distance before and barrier six looks okay. The only query I see is that he has placed just once from three starts on Good tracks.
(7) Babaloa was 2nd at Kilmore last start and then scratched in preference for this race. She should get a charmed run behind the leader but her form on Dry ground is just okay. Her latest effort was tough though and she could fight it out if it turns int a match race down the straight.
(2) Famoso is second up here and should strip fitter after her 6th but only beaten 1L on resumption at Lakeside. Has run a 2nd at The Valley previously. Damien Lane is on which is a good appointment.
(1) Close To Midnight Each-Way
$5.00/$1.75 (1 Unit)
Race 7: Gatorade Handicap - 9:15pm (AEDT)
(3) Merrigold gets another Dry track here which she enjoys and I think that's key. She has run a 2nd over this track & distance previously and she made good late ground for 2nd last start at Lakeside. She stay at this trip and Hannah Edgley gets the claim which should help her be strong for the full duration. Each-Way is probably the go here and I think Sadler will have her 100 percent fit now.
(7) Moonraker may lead them a long way like he did at Ararat last start when winning. He rises to the 1200m fir this first time which is the unknown.
(10) Elena Montero has drawn the rails here and she might get a gun run. She hasn’t placed over the 1200m yet but her 4th at Lakeside last start was good when only beaten a half a length.
(3) Merrigold Each-Way
$4.60/$1.80 (1 Unit)
