We're back at The Valley on Friday February 7th, with Moonee Valley hosting an eight-race card on what should be a perfect Melbourne summer evening. The first race kicks off at 6:15pm with gallopers racing on a Good 4 surface.
Brendan Bunworth is back with his three best bets of the night with one showing quite a bit of value.

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, February 7th 2025
Race 2: Musk Creek Farm Handicap - 6:45pm AEDT
(2) Mallatier is going for three on the bounce and the on-pace McEvoy runner deserves to be favourite after his 3L easy win at Pakenham last start. He does rise 3.5kg in weight with Blake Shinn on but I reckon this guy can lead all of the way. He drops back to the 1000m after winning over 1100m last time but he should be too quick around a much tighter circuit compared to what she faced last time at Pakenham.
(5) Box Office was a 3L Cranbourne winner last start when fav but that was an easy race. He remains at the 1000m but barrier 8 is a concern.
(9) Mrs Archibald is fit and may try to settle behind the favourite in this race. She likes this distance and gets weight relief here.
(2) Mallatier
$2.60 (2 units)
Race 6: Melbourne Shopfitting Group Handicap - 8:45pm AEDT
(5) Tomba gets the blinkers on here and the gelding is down in class and likes racing on Good tracks. He was poor at Flemington last start but if you can forgive that run he smashed them two starts in a row at Kembla Grange. Shinn sticks with him after his Flemington failure and I think he will have the boy hooking out at the 400m mark and running on.
(6) Big Kate is fit but this is a lot tougher to what she faced at Yarra Valley last start when 3rd. She does normally get back in her races so Stockdale will flop out of the wide barrier. If the pace is on, she can win at odds.
(7) Arden Green likes Good tracks but hasn’t won in a long time. Led and got collared with 100m to go at Mornington last start. If they go slow in front, he can go close.
(5) Tomba
$2.80 (2 units)
Race 8: Baumgartners Handicap - 9:45pm AEDT
(3) Fission hasn’t won in 2 years but at odds here can run on and win. He likes The Valley and will settle around 6th on the outside in this and I reckon he will be one of the fastest horses over the final 300m. He needs luck in his races but at 8-1, I am happy to have a small play. At this track on December 28 he ran on well and just missed. If he doesn’t run top 3 in this he is in the sack bin.
(5) Lady Di Di stormed home last start at Lakeside for 4th. Gets a good barrier here in 2 and at 7-1 she is also a good each-way play.
(8) Acid Wash is the fav and has placed over this distance but I reckon he is better on Soft ground. Is first up after an 8-month spell here. Ben Melham takes the ride for the first time. I see he has been backed into $2.40 and he might be a Lay while fresh.
(3) Fission E/W
$9.50/$2.50 (1u e/w)
