A-League Round 25 Preview & Betting Tips

Brisbane Roar vs Macarthur FC

Friday 4th April, 7:35pm AEDT

Brisbane Roar take on Macarthur FC at Suncorp Stadium in what looks like another tough challenge for the home side. Roar have struggled all season, sitting at the bottom of the table with just two wins. They’ve had issues at both ends of the pitch, conceding too many goals while struggling to convert chances. Their last game saw them fall to league leaders Auckland, ending a short unbeaten run. With confidence low, they’ll need a big turnaround to get anything from this match.

Macarthur, meanwhile, have had a steadier season, sitting in eighth place with 29 points. They’ve been more consistent, picking up results against stronger teams. When these sides last met, it was a wild 4-4 draw, with Macarthur conceding a late own goal to throw away the win. They'll be determined to avoid the same mistakes this time and take all three points.

Macarthur have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning five of the ten meetings between the sides. Roar’s struggles at home won’t make things any easier, and Macarthur will see this as a great opportunity to grab another win. Given the form of both teams, an away victory looks the most likely outcome.

Auckland FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers

Saturday 5th April, 3:00pm AEDT

Auckland have been dominant this season, sitting at the top of the table with a comfortable lead over their closest rivals. They’ve been strong at both ends of the pitch, boasting the league’s best defensive record while also finding ways to break down opposition defences. A recent win over Brisbane Roar extended their unbeaten streak to 10, and they’ll be confident heading into this clash.

Western Sydney, sitting in fifth place, have also enjoyed a solid campaign, with an attack that has been among the most dangerous in the league. However, inconsistency has been an issue, with their last game ending in a draw against Wellington Phoenix despite creating more chances. They'll need to be clinical against Auckland, as scoring opportunities might be harder to come by against the league leaders.

These teams have only met once before, with Auckland coming out on top in a tight contest. With home advantage and a strong defensive setup, Auckland will be tough to break down. Western Sydney’s attacking firepower makes them a threat, but Auckland look well placed to continue their winning run and are the preferred selection here.

Adelaide United vs Sydney FC

Saturday 5th April, 7:35pm AEDT

Adelaide United take on Sydney FC at Coopers Stadium in what should be an entertaining, high-scoring clash. Adelaide’s season has been full of goals, both for and against, as they’ve struggled defensively while still managing to find the net regularly. They come into this game after a 5-3 defeat to Melbourne Victory, a result that summed up their campaign—dangerous going forward but vulnerable at the back. Sitting in sixth place, they need to tighten up defensively if they want to secure a crucial win.

Sydney FC, just behind in seventh, have also been inconsistent this season. They’ve had mixed results in recent weeks, including a 3-2 loss to Melbourne City last time out. While they’ve been competitive in most games, defensive lapses have cost them points. Against an Adelaide side that has been involved in several goal-fests this season, they’ll need to be sharp at both ends of the pitch.

These teams have a long history of close contests, but given Adelaide’s recent results, this one has all the makings of a shootout. With both sides looking to push up the table, expect plenty of attacking football and a game where defence might take a back seat.
