Tasmania JackJumpers vs Adelaide 36ers
Friday 7:30pm AEDT (Jan 10), MyState Bank Arena
The Tasmania JackJumpers will host the Adelaide 36ers at MyState Bank Arena in what’s set to be a big NBL25 clash. The JackJumpers, currently sitting at 11-10, are struggling after two straight losses. They’re dealing with some tough injury problems, with guard Sean Macdonald out for the season and centre Will Magnay still sidelined. These absences are leaving a big gap in Tasmania’s defence, especially when it comes to guarding dominant players like Montrezl Harrell.
Adelaide will be full of confidence after a big 100-81 win over Melbourne United. While their season has been a bit up and down, the 36ers are starting to look like they’re hitting their stride. One of the main reasons for their recent success is Kendric Davis, who’s been playing out of his mind. Davis is in the MVP conversation, with his scoring and playmaking abilities lighting up the court. Tasmania will need to find a way to slow him down, but without the defensive tools to do so, Davis is likely to keep the pressure on.
Harrell is another big problem for Tasmania. The 36ers’ centre has been a force in the paint, and with Magnay still out, the JackJumpers don’t have anyone to effectively match his size and strength. Harrell’s ability to dominate inside and grab crucial rebounds will put extra pressure on Tasmania’s already stretched defence.
For Tasmania to stay in the game, they’ll need big performances from the players they have available. Milton Doyle will be key. His recent form hasn’t been up to scratch, and the JackJumpers really need him to step up. With Macdonald and Magnay out, Doyle’s leadership and scoring ability are even more important. If he can find his rhythm and contribute, Tasmania might be able to stay competitive.
In the end, Adelaide has the upper hand here in my opinion. With Davis playing at an MVP level and Harrell dominating inside, they’ve got the tools to take advantage of Tasmania’s weakened defence. While the JackJumpers will fight hard at home, the combination of injuries and Adelaide’s improved form makes the 36ers a great bet to come away with the win.
