Round 18 of the 2024 AFL Season continues on Sunday afternoon at People First Stadium at the Gold Coast when the Suns play host to the Port Adelaide Power, with the game likely to decide the 2024 future of both sides and where they are heading, in particular the Gold Coast Suns.

This is one of these really important games where it is an eight point game basically given the ladder position. The Suns are on 32 points and if they win, they stay in touch with the eight, but with a loss, they potentially are two games away from the eight and it's season over. The Power are on 40 and if they win, they can press claims for a top four spot, which is remarkable given the noise around Ken Hinkley a few weeks ago. But, if they lose, they remain on 36 and are in a fight to play finals, so it's a massive game for both sides, but especially Gold Coast, given they are at home and are coming off a really disappointing loss at Marvel last week against the Kangaroos, and are without Touk Miller and Sam Day through injury.
The theory with Port Adelaide has always been that a fresh Charlie Dixon is the most dangerous Charlie Dixon, and he returns for the Power after a suspension in the SANFL. His body was banged up, his form was poor hence why he was in the reserves and he took his frustration out. But, his inclusion with a few weeks break, and against his former club, I think he could do some real damage, and if Horne-Francis plays more forward, his forward craft was very impressive last week against the Dogs.
Match Prediction: The Suns were sweating on the fitness of some key players, namely Jarrod Witts, but he hasn't come up, and his loss, as well as no Miller or Day, does leave them vulnerable. But, they are near unbeatable at home and with that, I am just leaning their way.

Gold Coast Head2Head: Despite injuries and a couple of veteran omissions, I think their record at home and what is at stake, I think they win, especially after the bake Hardwick gave the side and the club after their poor loss to the Kangas last week.
Charlie Dixon 2+ Goals: As stated above, I think fresh is best for Charlie and he will lick his lips to cause some damage up forward, especially if Port can win the battle at the centre bounce and give him time and space in the forward 50.
