Flemington Racing Tips – Saturday, June 17th 2023
Race 2: Rod Johnson Handicap - 12:25pm (AEST)
(1) Steparty is an unbeaten colt who can keep it up here after winning by 3.5L at this track with Dean Yendall on board last time. Yendall is on again and he does seem to like the Soft tracks. He has settled on pace in both wins and from barrier 5 Yendall should be able to sit up there again. Does have 59kg but looks good enough!
(4) Bolted In has drawn the inside and may settle just behind Steparty in the run which should give him a nice cart into the race. He comes over from SA but his form does seem to be good enough.
(5) Blazing Harry won well at Geelong after coming from off midfield and that win was on a similar track as to what he will face here.
(13) Dolphin Skin has drawn wide which hinders his winning chances but Wiramu Pinn is riding well and he can guide him into a placing at odds.
(1) Steparty - WIN
$2.20 (3 Units)
Race 5: Bruce Gadsden Handicap - 2:10pm (AEST)
(9) Dazzling Luzy for the Noonan’s should have won at Hillside when first up (2nd) but then was disappointing last start at this track when 4th but only beaten .7L. She is ready to fire now 3rd up and her Caulfield jumpout on June 13 would have given her even more fitness. She should settle midfield and on the spacious home straight should get her chance to redeem.
(10) Kind Gesture does get back but should run on well. He was 6th but not beaten too far at this track last start.
(7) Typhoon Titmus gets a long way back but is another who will run on well. Calleen Hefel on this time.
(2) Party For One is the likely fav but has drawn barrier 13. She has won 2 in a row and Blake Shinn stays on.
(3) Good and Proper has won 3 races on Soft ground and must be respected.
(9) Dazzling Lucy - WIN
$8 (2 Units)
Race 7: The David Bourke - 3:25pm (AEST)
(1) Jimmy The Bear was runner up when beaten .75L at Flemington last start and he should be 100 percent fit now and ready to show his best. The extra 220m should suit and a Soft surface is a bonus. Laura Lafferty is on and gets the claim (3 kilograms) and Jimmy will likely settle around midfield. Barrier 3 looks ideal!
(3) The Summit has had 2 winning jumpouts leading into this race but the former Hong Kong gelding has had 2 years of the racing scene.
(12) Brayden Star won for us last time on BeforeYouBet and is a big chance again despite being up in class. Blake Shinn replaces Damien Oliver and he will likely settle him slightly worse than midfield.
(11) Unusual Culture likes the Soft and is very consistent. Carleen Hefel stays on and she has won two races on this one previously.
(1) Jimmy The Bear - WIN
$6.50 (2 Units)
Race 9: Ken Cox Handicap - 4:33pm (AEST)
(9) Kin ran on quite well for 4th at Randwick last time and she is slightly down in class after running in 2 Group races last prep (unplaced). Shinn is on for the first time and she will likely be midfield before coming down the outside fence which may be an advantage later in the day. Barrier 15 should be fine and her fitness should be at 100 percent now.
(1) Legio Ten (stablemate) won for us last time but does have more weight to carry here. He can be slow out and I'm worried the extra kilos might be telling over the final 100m. Going for 3 on the trot though.
(2) Press Down is over the odds and was solid (6th) behind Legio Ten last start.
(3) Big Watch is consistent and has placed in all 3 attempts on the Soft. Barrier 13 is okay and he does come into the race after a win at Ladbrokes Park (Hillside).
(9) Kin - WIN
$5.50 (2 Units)
