Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, February 18th 2023
Race 5
(4) Annavisto trialed up well at Cranbourne and despite it being eight months since a run, it does look as though Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr have her right with the team putting Jamie Kah on. She has won 3 from 5 first up and she has won at Flemington previously. Her latest effort of 15th in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara was better than it looked after she led and went too hard. She was still only beaten 6.85L.
(6) Wrote to Ataki won well with Kah on board at Hillside last time but Kah has chosen my on topper in this one. She will settle on pace and gets the services of Dean Yendall.
(7) Vespertine will be running on and she has a solid record here. She will settle back and will want the speed on.
(8) Boogie Dancer has drawn well and is first up. She has never raced on this hard of a surface which is query.
(4) Annavisto WIN
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 6
(4) Bank Maur is fitter after his second (beaten a nose) to Jacquinot last start and he is one who will hit the line hard over the 1400m. Barrier 9 is ideal I reckon and he will position up slightly worse than midfield for Jye McNeil. He likes Good tracks and won over 1400m at his only run over the trip and that was 2nd up like he is here this time.
(5) Elliptical has drawn badly in 14 but will hook out wide and power home ( as she does). May have to give a couple of the fancied runners half a dozen lengths in the run though.
(7) Bel Air has the aid of the inside barrier which can be sometimes advantageous over this journey. It's his first look at Headquarters but he did win well at Pakenham last start.
(9) Foujita San was poor last time but is fitter now and is probably over the odds.
(4) Bank Maur WIN
$5.50 (2 Units)
Race 7
(1) Nature Strip is back from a spell as is most of his rivals and has drawn the inside alley. The champion has a record of 13 wins from 27 starts on the Good track, 10 from 18 over the distance and 6 at Flemington with a total of 22 wins overall. Waller and JMac combine again and he is the obvious favourite who will start around even money.
(3) Baller loves it here and trialed up very well leading into this. First try here but may want an extra 100 or 200m.
(8) Marabi has won 7 from 8 starts including the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate. Classy animal who is first up after almost a year.
(9) Buenos Noches has drawn well out there in 11 i reckon and will be running on. May want an extra 100 or 200m though.
(1) Nature Strip WIN
$2.10 (4 Units)
Race 9
(12) Chartres goes on top here for Matt Laurie and Jye McNeil. He probably wants an extra 200m but has won 2 from 6 over this distance. His first up record is just okay but he flew home for 4th, beaten only a length at Sandown Hillside on September 25 and forget the Geelong run before his spell when he had no luck running 6th. He should start at nice odds and can run home nicely first up.
(10) D’jumbuck won at this track on January 14 and has the in-form Blake Shinn on. Barrier 11 is a slight concern though.
(7) Red Hot Nicc smashed them at The Valley last time and may lead this field. But will he go too fast in front?
(6) El Rocko trialed well at Cranbourne behind some quality horses on February 6th. He is first up and his first up form is solid.
(12) Chartres WIN
$12 (1 Unit)
