Summer racing is heating up in Queensland this Saturday with a cracking nine race card at Doomben. We get to see the 2 year olds step out today in the B.J. Mclachlan which will act as a key lead up to the Magic Millions. The Falvelon sprint is the other feature race of the day and will see the likes of King Of Sparta, Shooting For Gold and Garibaldi all at the top of the market.
There are nine strong races on the card and Billy Bestford is back once again to bring you his best bets and race previews for all the key races.
Doomben Racing Tips: Saturday December 24th
Race 3
I think out to 1600m is the key to (3) West Of Africa today. He got back and hit the line hard at Eagle Farm 2nd up and looks to be trending in the right direction now with two good runs under the belt. The wide draw means he will get back again but I think he has the turn of foot to run them down.
Can’t knock anything (1) Soothsayer has done this prep, making the pace and being too strong at his last couple runs. He won over the mile two starts back and will make his own luck up on speed. Think he is short enough in the market.
(4) Red Top was only 2L off these two last start and should be suited getting out in trip. Should be hard fit now 3rd up and think he can run well at an EW price.
Doubt we have seen the best of (2) Mishani Spartan and comes into this off a good win at the Sunny Coast. Needs to improve again to be in the finish here but I think he can run well.
(3) West Of Africa

Race 4
(6) Hidden Wealth has only been beaten once in three runs to date and that was by Golden Boom. Bounced back to win easily at the Sunny Coast and this looks a nice progression for him. He looks a pretty smart type in his own right and from the gate I think he gets a nice run in transit.
(2) Billionair Baby is a handy talent and looked good winning two of four last prep. This might be short of his best and I’m sure he’ll improve off whatever he does. Will be getting back and running on hard.
(1) All That Pizzazz should be ready now third up and is a winner at this track/trip. Should be making his own luck up on speed and is still very lightly raced.
(6) Hidden Wealth

Race 5
Looking forward to seeing the exciting (6) Miss Coota who steps out to keep her unbeaten record in tact. With all eyes on the Magic Millions she looks one of the top seeds so far. Her two wins to date have been nothing but impressive, jumping to the lead and bolting in by 7.5L and 5L respectively. Craig Williams takes over in the saddle today and I think she will be too speedy for these and stamp herself as the best 2yo in QLD.
(4) Worx ran better than the 5th placing suggests on debut, finishing a few lengths off Godfather. He didn’t have a heap of room in the straight but when clear he was taking ground off most of them. Can improve now out to 1200m.
(5) Godzilla is an interesting runner for the flying Snowden camp and you have to take notice of their current crop of 2 year olds anytime they step out. His trials have been solid down in Sydney and I think he is suited at 1200m.
(3) The Novelist bolting in on debut at Kembla Grange and no surprise to see the stable head north to chase Magic Millions riches off that effort. Will be up near the lead and wouldn’t shock to see him progress.

Race 8
Going to have something on (4) Shooting For Gold who was awesome fresh over a trip short of his best. With that run under the belt and rising to 1200m I was very keen to follow him off that effort. Will get back from the draw but I think he looks as if he is ready to explode over the top of them. Terrific record here at Doomben - three wins from four.
(2) King Of Sparta tackles this race fresh off two smart trial wins and we know the quality he has. He races very well first up and draws to get a nice trial in running. If something can bring him into the race then I think he will be hard to hold out.
(14) Goldsborough looks to be trending in the right direction and usually does his best work third up with two wins from three. Hasn’t been beaten far in either runs this prep and I think he can improve to at least run a place.
(6) Zethus looked very good winning at Rosehill last time we saw him and has had a little tick over trial in between runs. He mixes his form but at his best he is right up to this.
(3) Garibaldi is super consistent and loves racing this track/trip. Looked good winning last start.
