The UFC heads to Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend for a Fight Night card headlined by fan favourite Bobby Green and prospect Grant Dawson. In the co-main Joe Pfyfer throws down with Abdul Razak Alhassan and Alex Morono takes on Joaqin Buckley. We take a look at my best bets on the card below.
UFC Fight Night Preview & Betting Tips
Grant Dawson vs. Bobby Green
I believe this is a fight being used to catapult Grant Dawson. He is undefeated in the UFC and has registered wins over Mark Madsen, Jared Gordon and Leonardo Santos. He does not have any real holes in his game and is always on the hunt for finishes but he just hasn’t received the exposure that many in similar and even lesser positions would have, largely due to him just going about his business and getting the job done.
Bobby Green is a test for Dawson as the unorthodox striker has always proved to be a tricky opponent. Green won his last fight by submission over Tony Ferguson which showcased his underrated wrestling and jiu jitsu. However, over five rounds Dawson is going to crush him. Dawson has shown he has a chin and is relentless and that is enough to get him over the line against Green. I believe Green will end up folding to the pressure in the latter rounds.

Philipe Lins vs. Ion Cutelaba
Ion Cutelaba starts every fight with a surge. This either ends in him or his opponent being knocked into the next dimension or for a very sloppy fight from the two-minute mark. A clean counter striker is the type of fighter to take out ‘The Hulk’ but lucky for him Phillipe Lins is not that.
Lins is a decent striker who is technically sound but I believe he won’t be able to stop the initial onrush and therefore the pick is Cutelaba by round 1 knockout.

Alexander Hernandez vs. Bill Algeo
Alexander Hernandez in my opinion is one of the most underrated fighters by bookies on the UFC roster. By no means does that mean I believe he is a title contender but in match ups such as these he always comes up as the underdog. This weekend that opponent is Bill Algeo, who will rely on his wrestling and gas tank to take the win.
MMA math would point to Hernandez’s fight with Billy Quarantillo as a reason to back Algeo. Billy Q defeated Hernandez thanks to relentless pressure and wrestling. However, Algeo was unable to take down fighters such as Andre Fili and while he is dangerous from top control, I don’t see him being a stronger wrestler than Hernandez. Therefore, ‘The Great Ape’ keeps Algeo on the end of his punches and chips away at him for most likely a decision win.
