Caulfield headlines thoroughbred racing around the state of Victoria on Saturday February 8th with an action-packed card of Group 1 racing. The first race starts at 12:15pm AEDT on a large ten-race program. The track is rated a Good 4 and there shouldn't be any chance to that with a beautiful 25 degrees forecast in Melbourne for Saturday.
Brendan Bunworth is back in the saddle with his best three plays of the day for C.F.Orr Stakes Day. Head to our racing tips page for more previews and best bets from Saturday's racing.

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, February 8th 2025
Race 3: The BD Hoof Hustle - 1:20pm AEDT
(7) Touristic rises in distance here but he has shown that the 2000m doesn’t worry him because he has been in the money 5 from 10 starts over the trip. Never got into the race at Wyong when near last and previous to that his form was just okay but in better company. I reckon this race is easier and after a good trial win at Randwick on January 28, he can go close if he gets the right run. I think the right run is three pairs back on the outside.
(8) Shaiyhar has drawn very wide in 11 so i don’t think he will be settling in 4th like he did when winning at Flemington on JUnary 18. He is very fit now but Willow is going to have to give him a peach of a ride to score.
(5) Mehzebeen is resuming and may save ground after drawing the inside barrier. She will get back though and may need 3000m.
(7) Tourstic E/W
$5.00/$1.90 (1u/2u)
Race 6: Herald Sun Rubiton Stakes Group 2 - 3:05pm AEDT
(2) Maharba is resuming and did trial well but the fact that he likes Dry ground is the key. He has won 3 times on Good ground and has run 2nd on 4 occasions. He will get back and will be running on and you can see from his Ascot run when given clean air, he really can fly late (2nd Group 1). Jordan Childs knows him very well and will want pace in the race but punters will have to monitor the first few races to make sure there isn’t leader bias around.
(9) Band Of Brothers will get the gun run in around 3rd behind the leader and barrier 1 is a good get because he likes to settle handy. Likes this distance and likes Caulfield.
(10) Miss Aria can fly late too but this is her first try at 1100m. Very consistent though and doesn’t mind running on the rails which she may have to do from barrier 3.
(2) Maharba
$3.50 (2 units)
Race 10: Peter Le Grand Stakes - 5:35pm AEDT
(1) Drifting has drawn the inside here for the Snowden camp and she is resuming after an impressive Winter win here at Caulfield and she is drawn to lead again. She flies fresh and is 2 from 2 first up and McNeil will take her straight to the front in this you would think. She trialled well leading into this and I think the fact that she handles Caulfield is the key. The only worry is if the inside is off by the running of the last.
(3) Certain Rise will go forward from 9 and this filly might park outside of Drifting and put the pressure on mid race. Shinn has won on the girl twice already and he takes the ride.
(4) Arabian Summer smashed them at Gold Coast on December 20 (3L) and then she had a bad barrier when 3rd at Sunshine Coast last time. Is probably fitter than the others but will be giving them 2L on the turn.
(1) Drifting E/W
$6.00/$1.95 (1u e/w)
