Canterbury Racing Tips: Wednesday, April 17th 2024
Race 1: Hyland Race Colours mdn Hcp 1550m – 12:50pm (AEST)
(1) Little Jeanie $1.95: 3YO filly who hasn’t been far away at all in her last 3 outings. Rises to 1550m now which looks suitable here and is deserving a win. Third up today and will be peaking best fitness with J-Mac to remain in the saddle. Looks the one to beat.
(6) Glebe $8.50/$2.20: Stable mate to Little Jeanie who has also been finishing off her races nicely. She has had some early market support and will be strong second up. Worth thought at a nice each way price.
(1) Little Jeanie
$1.95 (4 Units)
Race 4: Headwater At Vinery Stud BM78 1550m – 2:35pm (AEST)
(4) Huesca $3.90: 5YO who won nicely on the soft deck first up and then hasn’t been that far away at all over 1400m last two outings. Back to soft track where he is 3 from 5 attempts. Draws wide, but has that good early speed and I expect him to dictate the race to his liking and he will take catching here.
(8) Terrestar $5: 4YO mare who has been racing well. This trip doesn’t look too bad off previous runs, but my concern is she tends to be slow out the gates. If she can jump from the low alley and get a closer sit then normal id be keen to have some on. Right down in the weights here looks a nice chance.
(4) Huesca
$3.90 (1.5 Units)
Race 5: Cylinder At Darley BM72 1900m – 3:10pm (AEST)
(11) Natural Deduction $3.20: 3YO gelding who was very impressive last start where he was 1-2L off them, last before threading the needle through the pack to score by 2.5L. Rises from the mile to 1900m now which looks perfect off that run. Rock hard fit for this third up run and J-Mac gets in the saddle. Draws a nice alley and if he can sit on pace he will be launching late. Looks a great bet.
(10) Smart Legend $8/$2.50: 4YO who has been consistent of late. Drops back in grade now and looks ready for this trip. Has finished behind some smart types in FIRESTORM/ZONDEE etc. Worth a play at an each way price here.
(11) Natural Deduction
$3.20 (3 Units)
Race 7: Yarraman Park BM78 1100m – 4:20pm (AEST)
(1) Gold Revolver $5/$2: 4YO gelding who has a superb resume thus far with 5 wins from 9 attempts. Third up today looking to make it three on the trot this prep and gets pole position which sets him up to lead again and give the others something to catch. We get a 2kg claim engaged her which puts him right in this. He beat BALLROOM BELLA last start who since went on to finish second in a G2 on Saturday. The one to beat again who knows how to win and we are seeing an each way price too, get on.
(19) Audette $19/$4.80: 5YO mare who is resuming today and is proven first up with a terrific record on the SOFT track. She has trialled nicely leading into this and looks over the odds here. She gets in nicely at the weights with ROPER on board who is also in good form currently. Worth a small play at an EW Price.
(1) Gold Revolver
$5/$2 (2U/3U)
