2024 AFL Round 10 Preview & Betting Tips
Brisbane vs Richmond
Saturday 7:30pm AEST, May 18th, Gabba
Brisbane began the season with a couple of poor defeats which had alarm bells starting to ring, but they’ve responded with a solid patch of footy over the past six wins where they’ve accumulated a 3-1-2 record.
The Lions most recent match was the most thrilling of them all and ended all square against the Crows in Adelaide (90-90). That came after their best performance of the season which was in the QClash against the Suns, where they ran home 34-point winners despite being all out of bench rotations in the second half.
Injuries have hit the Lions hard so far in 2024, particularly knee injuries as six of their players are currently sidelined with such injuries. A couple of handy reinforcements aren’t too far away however, as Zac Bailey is currently listed as one week away, while Will Ashcroft is in the 6-8 week range.
Richmond have also been hit hard by injuries to the extent of which all available players are just about guaranteed a game at the top level. 15 players are currently named on the official injury list with four of those being season-enders and a number of others being 4+ weeks.
Remaining competitive with all of their injuries has been tough for the Tigers who haven’t gotten withing six goals of a side since Round 4. They were most recently belted by 91 points against the Bulldogs who certainly weren’t in the best of form prior to that clash.
The Tigers have now lost five in a row as well as eight of their nine games this season and look almost certain to finish in the bottom four.
Match Prediction: The Lions have been building their form as the season progresses and that spells danger for the undermanned and out-of-form Tigers. The line has been set at 47.5 points which might seem high at first glance, but is actually quite generous considering they’ve lost by 54 and 91 in their last two games against less credentialed opposition.
All things considered, it’s extremely hard to see how the Tigers don’t get absolutely smashed on Saturday night. I expect the Lions to be piling on the score in this one.

Joe Daniher 4+ Goals – Hasn’t been in great goal kicking form but he usually feasts on the lower sides. He smashed North earlier in the season and I’m expecting something similar here.
Josh Dunkley 25+ Disposals – There’s a good chance Pickett does a job on Neale, so I’ll be going with Dunkley to rack them up instead. As reliable as they come and should have a field day.
Mykelti Lefau Anytime Goal Scorer – One of the shining lights for the Tigers in an otherwise dour season. He should impact the scoreboard again on Saturday night.
