BBL14 Strikers vs Hurricanes Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Friday 27th December, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Strikers
The Strikers are 1-2 to start the season and sit in 5th place on the BBL table. They are coming off a disappointing loss to the Brisbane Heat on Sunday night which went down to the final ball of the game. Batting first, the Strikers piled on a healthy score of 6/174 off their 20 overs, led by solid knocks from English duo Jamie Overton (45 off 24) and Ollie Pope (34 off 29).
In reply, the Strikers were unable to restrict the Heat despite leg-spinner Lloyd Pope taking 2/17 off three overs. Pope has bounced back from a disappointing outing against the Thunder to be the Strikers best bowler in back-to-back games now. With Jake Weatherald still likely out with back spasms, I think the Strikers line-up remains unchanged here.
Predicted XI: Matt Short, D’Arcy Short, Chris Lynn, Ollie Pope, Alex Ross, Jamie Overton, James Bazley, Liam Scott, Henry Thornton, Cameron Boyce, Llyod Pope
Hurricanes
The Cane Train bounced back from an embarrassing loss in their season opener to the Renegades to record a comfortable eight wicket win over the Scorchers on Saturday night. Bowling first, the Canes were led by Riley Meredith, who took 3/27 off his four overs to help keep the Scorchers to 155 off their 20 overs.
In reply, it was youngster Mitchell Owen who starred for the Canes, smashing a brilliant unbeaten 101 off just 64 balls to record the first century of the BBL season and lead the Canes to the win. With Matthew Wade likely to miss again through back issues, I think the Canes go unchanged.
Predicted XI: Mitchell Owen, Caleb Jewell, Shai Hope, Ben McDermott, Tim David, Nikhil Chaudhary, Chris Jordan, Nathan Ellis, Riley Meredith, Billy Stanlake, Waqar Salamkheil
Prediction
The Canes batting line-up is looking ominous on paper at the moment, even without Matty Wade at the top of the order, they have so many international calibre players to call upon. Tim David Is yet to fire during this BBL campaign, nor is Shai Hope. I think they have too much firepower for the Strikers here.

Ben McDermott has had a slow start to the BBL14 with scores of 0 and 5 through his first two innings. However, his record in Adelaide is immaculate and I like him to bounce back here. In 8 innings at Adelaide Oval in the past, he has plundered 251 runs at a fantastic average of 50.2, one of the best T20 averages on the ground over the history of the BBL.
