Ballarat will front up the racing coverage across the screens of Victoria for their midweek program that shapes up as an eight-race card, with the first expected to be run at 1:20pm (AEDT) before the meeting rounds out at 5:25pm.
Keep an eye on the track rating as a possibility beckons surrounding a downgrade, but for now it is likely they’ll jump on a Soft 7. Please find all our best bets on the card below as Autumn racing starts to kick into gear.
Ballarat Racing Tips: Wednesday April 3rd 2024
Race 2: The Haymarket Mdn Plate (1:55pm AEDT)
(2) Mr Assertive will be hoping to reward favourite backers early in the meet after finding one better at Bendigo midway through March. In maiden company which is always tricky but looks suited by the race experience and is clearly the best of the tried runners.
(11) Spirit Of Chamelot is a 3yo Bay Filly that was slow out the gate in her first picnics run at Murray Bridge but worked to the line well. Another that will be better off with a run under her belt and can sneak into minor money.
(1) Smart Return combines with Linda Meech in the steer hoping to punch home an early winner. Didn’t show up in her second run which was out of sorts and will need to bounce back hard to figure here.
(2) Mr Assertive
$2.60 (2 Units)
Race 6: Hygain Winners Choice (4:15pm AEDT)
(2) Cheval Savant looms as one of the better bets on the program with value hard to find across the board. Presents at a decent enough price stepping back in trip after its form was franked two back at Ararat.
(5) Friday At Five comes into calculations with the apprentice claim and the low draw two big plusses. Check to see if the rails run suits late in the day, may get chopped up and prove too difficult of a task.
(8) Sacred Bull rounds out selections over the 2000m here having had a good record over both track and distance. Can give connections something to smile about after closing well at Yarra Valley last start.
(2) Cheval Savant
$3.90 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Hygain Winners Choice (5:25pm AEDT)
(8) I Miss Margie has been around the mark without winning of late, gets her chance here at Ballarat to do exactly that. Early money has been with the Bussetin & N Young trained Filly who should run a race.
(5) Prince Sonic has hit winning form and finds another event to her looking that can see her salute again. Draws a middle alley but finds the experienced hands of Craig Williams on board this time around to negate that.
(13) Juggle slots in as the third hope in the last but not without serious claims. Gains top jockey Jamie Kah in the saddle which only strengthens her chances at her first up run in her second preparation.
(8) I Miss Margie
$3.60 (1 Unit)
