Australian Open Semifinals Betting Tips
N Djokovic vs A Zverev
I’m not sure that either player will be thrilled that they are playing this one during the day session, however it’s Novak Djokovic or Alexander Zverev that will be locking in the first spot in the Australian Open final.
It was another back-against-the-wall incredible result from Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal. After hurting himself midway through the first set, Djokovic managed a remarkable comeback to defeat Carlos Alcaraz in 4 sets. Djokovic had to change his tactics due to his impacted movement, becoming ultra-aggressive at almost every opportunity. Will that tactic hold up against Alexander Zverev?
Alexander Zverev admitted he was well below his best against American Tommy Paul in the quarter finals, but found a way to be two sets up and control the match for the most part. That is a sign of a good player transitioning to a great player, winning those type of matches when well below your best.
These two have an interesting history in which Zverev has been quite competitive even when Djokovic has been at his best in past years. I think the most likely outcomes here lead to Zverev over 20.5 total games being the best bet in what should be a tight contest. I’d expect this bet to win if Zverev wins in 4 or 5 sets, Djokovic wins in 5 sets, or potentially even a 4 set win for the Serbian.

B Shelton vs J Sinner
These two have played some fascinating contests over the last 2 years, and they meet here in Melbourne fighting for a spot in the Australian Open final.
Reports around the potential demise of Jannik Sinner in Melbourne were greatly exaggerated. It was a dominant win over home hope Alex de Minaur, with the Italian putting to bed any questions marks that may have been around after his match and medical time out issues against Holger Rune. Sinner is building an aura around his game that is suggesting he is going to be tough to beat for anyone on any surface, unless you have the tools to challenge and overpower him.
Ben Shelton certainly has those tools, but does he have the consistency? That is a big question mark over the American, who has shown himself to be one of the better players at grand slams on hardcourt over the last couple of years. He made the most of a draw that opened up a touch for him, but his ability to stay aggressive in key moments has been the major difference maker for him, particularly in some tight moments against Musetti, Monfils and Sonego.
Whilst I don’t think Shelton is a chance at pulling off an upset, I do think he is capable of keeping sets close, or potentially snatching a set from the Italian. As a result I will happily settle for Ben Shelton over 13.5 games as the play for this one.
