Australian Open Men’s Quarterfinal Betting Tips
N Djokovic vs C Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz. Novak Djokovic. Australian Open Quarter Final. Does it get much better than this?
Carlos Alcaraz is bidding to become the youngest men's player to win all four grand slams in his career. He has taken the game by storm in recent years, and continues to go from strength to strength. After struggling in Melbourne for the majority of his young career, he has clicked into gear well here to start 2025. Alcaraz reached the quarter finals with straight set wins over Shevchenko and Nishioka, a 4 set win over NunoBorges, and a win via retirement against Jack Draper.
Alcaraz now faces the best men's tennis player of all time in Novak Djokovic. The Serbian only won one tournament last year, but it was the one that meant the most to him: an Olympic gold medal. It was a major milestone for Djokovic, however with Andy Murray added to his coaching staff for the start of 2025, he is looking for any edge to try and keep the next generation of men's tennis at bay.
So who wins? It is a great question, with both players having taken control of this match-up at different stages on different surfaces. If Alcaraz was to win this one, it probably needs to be in 3 or 4 sets, so the -1.5 set handicap is the bet here. If Djokovic can dig his heels in and push this to at least a decider, I'd like to be on him in the final set.

J Sinner vs A De Minaur
World number 1 and defending champion against home town hero and number 8 seed. 9-0 head-to-head (including the Next Gen Finals). This feels like a David vs Goliath situation.
Jannik Sinner woke up before his 4th round match and didn't feel anywhere near 100%. Sinner being Sinner, he still found a way to make it through adversity, defeating Holger Rune in an entertaining 4 set match. If Sinner had felt that way on court 1 or 2 years ago, I'd say he'd be on a plane to his next tournament now, but he has come a long way in terms of his ability to work through tough moments.
Sinner comes into the quarter final match-up with Alex De Minaur feeling very confident, having won all nine of their previous match-ups. In fact, the only time De Minaur has progressed past Sinner in a tournament was when the Italian withdrew from their match at the 2023 Paris Masters. There has been some small changes to the game of De Minaur over the last 12 months, because the Australian has had to find ways to match it with the top names on tour. We are about to find out whether the hard work in trying to increase his serve speeds and power has paid off.
Each player has a question mark for this match. For Sinner, it is how does he feel and has he recovered from whatever issue troubled him in round 4. For De Minaur, it is can he be competitive, and can he hold his nerve when things get tight? This has the makings of a tight match, and the over 34.5 games appears to be the best option here if De Minaur has bridged the gap to Sinner.
