The 2024 AFL season finally got underway with Opening Round last weekend, and now it's time for Round 1! All 18 teams will be in action across four days, and it all begins on Thursday night with Carlton vs Richmond. That blockbuster will be followed by another on Friday night with Collingwood hosting Sydney, before we get a massive four-game slate on Saturday and another three-game slate on Sunday to close out the round!

2024 AFL Round 1 Tips
Thursday March 14th
After recording a miraculous comeback win against the Lions in Opening Round, the Blues will be expecting to go 2-0 to start the season when they host the Tigers. Meanwhile, the Tigers will be deserpate to make amends for their disappointing first up loss against the Suns.
Friday March 15th
The Magpies suffered a bit of a reality check in Opening Round when they were comfortably beaten by the highly-fancied Giants. The Magpies now face another tricky test in Round 2 when they host the up and coming Swans.
Saturday March 16th
The Bombers finished off 2023 in horrible fashion and will be hoping to show some signs of improvement in Round 1. They face another rebuilding team in the Hawks who can be dangerous on their day.
The Giants stormed out of the blocks in Opening Round to record a strong win against the reigning premiers. They now face the Kangaroos in Round 1 who they are overwhelming favourites to defeat.
The Cats had a Premiership hangover in 2023 when absolutely nothing went their way. Can they return to the finals in 2024? They'll take on the Saints first up who some fancy to be a dark horse this season.
The Suns got life under Dimma off to a flying start with a strong win at home against the Tigers. However, they now face a tougher test in Round 1 when they take on the Crows who will be hungry to return to September action this campaign.
Sunday March 17th
The Demons struggled with connection in the forward half in Opening Round and will need to improve sharply if they're to avoid going 0-2. The Bulldogs await them on Sunday afternoon and will be keen to get their season off to a winning start.
After going out in straight sets in last year's finals, the Power will be keen to begin 2024 with a win. They host last season's wooden spooners in the Eagles who many expect to struggle once again.
The Dockers regressed in 2023 but will welcome back a fully fit Nat Fyfe to the engine room in 2024. Can the 2x Brownlow Medallist help get his club off to a winning start against the Lions?
