Round 7 for the 2024 AFL Premiership Season delivers a three game Super Saturday slate for this Anzac Day weekend. Things get underway with North Melbourne hosting Adelaide down at Blundstone Arena. This isn’t the most exciting game from a football perspective but for us Daily Fantasy tragics it could offer potential gold as North have historically produced huge fantasy scores at this ground. Next up we do get a block buster for the twilight matchup with Geelong and Carlton going head to head at the MCG. The Cats are sitting top of the table and undefeated but Carlton will be looking to take that top spot and giving Geelong it’s first loss of the season. Finally at night we will get Fremantle hosting the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium, which should give us another game with high scoring fantasy potential.

Where to Attack?
The surprising stat of the season is that Geelong are giving up the most fantasy points in the league to inside midfielders despite being 6-0 in 2024. So simply going by the numbers Carlton should absolutely dominate the fantasy game on the inside as they are one of the top teams in the league for contested football through the midfield.
The next sneaky play when it comes to midfielders is targeting the Adelaide Crows who have been struggling this season and getting monstered on the inside conceding the third most points to the position. I alluded earlier that North Melbourne love playing at Blundstone and usually outperform their expectations so looking at North stack an option here.
Game Script – North backs and inside midfielders
VALUE PLAYS
Darcy Fogarty ($7,170) has yet to have a game this season where he has kicked over 2 goals but on a slate where there are no stand out value plays and Adelaide are facing a team that is struggling to field any key backs at all, this stands out an elite play. Forgarty has shown a 90-100 point ceiling in the right game and North Melbourne are giving up the most points in the league this year to key forwards (over 14 points above league average, which is over twice the second highest). For all the same reasons you can also pay up for Tex Walker ($13,180) who should absolutely fill up against this North Melbourne back line. I love stacking these two together and look for Adelaide to dominate when they go forward.
Marc Pittonet ($7,650) attended more centre bounces last week than Tom De Koning and it appears to be paying dividends for the Blues midfield dominance. Last week he was able to return 78 fantasy points in a favourable ruck matchup and he backs it up against the Cats this week who have been giving up the second most points in the league to the position in 2024. His price has jumped slightly from last week, but a 70+ point return would still be a great play here and it allows us to spend up in other positions.
If you are nervous about Pittonet’s game time and prefer to spend up at ruck, I love the Reilly O’Brien ($12,230) as a nice point of difference. He has been one of the hardest rucks to score against this season, which means Xerri might be held this week and North have been giving up over 5 points above league average. The smaller ground at Blundstone will likely lead to a high number of stoppages which is always good news for rucks fantasy scoring.
MID PRICED PLAYS
George Wardlaw ($10,720) returns to the side this week and should soak up plenty of midfield time that they have had to divvy up to Jy Simpkin in recent weeks. As noted above, inside midfielders have been going to town against the Crows this year and Wardlaw makes for a nice mid priced paly with a 90-100 point upside. An alternate North player in this price range is Colby McKercher ($9,900) who will be playing his first AFL game in his home state and should be able to fill up on the outside with North typically racking up uncontested possessions across half back down at Blundstone.
George Hewitt ($13,100) is just one of three midfielders that look like great options for rostering against the Cats on this slate. As noted above, Geelong have been giving up the most points in the league to the position and George Hewitt will offer 100+ point upside in the $13k price range. Alternatively, Patrick Crips ($15,460) and Sam Walsh ($16,650) are also in play if you have the salary to spend.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Luke Davies-Uniacke ($14,110) has been a tough roster all season. He has yet to have a ceiling game of 120+ fantasy points, but showed us last season he is very capable of that. As noted above, this game will suit inside midfielders for North Melbourne and I love stacking up this North team down at Blundstone in a favourable matchup.
