2024 Hero World Challenge Betting Tips
Bahamas, Thursday 5th – Sunday 8th December
Most of the top players in the world will go on break following this week, and not play again until the 2025 PGA Tour season kicks off on January 5th in Hawaii. As such, this will be the last chance to catch some top line golf before the Christmas break.
The Field
A field of just 20 players will compete for the $5m purse in the Hero World Challenge, headlined by the No.1 player in the world Scottie Scheffler. This will be Scheffler’s first event since the Tour Championship all the way back at the start of August.
Other top names in the field this week include Justin Thomas, Ludvig Aberg, Patrick Cantlay, Wyndham Clark, Tom Kim and Jason Day. Scheffler will be the only past winner of the Hero World Challenge to be suiting up this week, after he took out the event by three strokes last December.
The Course
Albany Golf Club, The Bahamas
Par 72
7,309 Yards
Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas was designed by Ernie Ells and offers a Par-72 at just over 7,300 yards for the championship setup. The course combines the best of links and desert golf into one stunning layout, where golfers will get an all-around test of their game.
Betting Tips
Pretty hard to look past Scheffler here given that in three attempts at the Hero World Challenge, he has only ever lost to Viktor Hovland, who he was runner up to in 2022 and 2023 before winning last year. However, after nearly four months without a tournament, I’m going to look elsewhere for some value this weekend.
Akshay Bhatia ($26/Top 10 $1.57)
Won in the Bahamas on the Korn Ferry Tour and was great in his second full season on the PGA Tour. Had the impressive win at the Valero Texas Open back in April and has been in solid form of late, finishing T2 at the Dunlap Phoenix in Japan on the back of solid performances in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Aaron Rai ($30/Top 10 $1.62)
The Englishman has been a ball striking machine this season, ranking first on the PGA Tour for driving accuracy and ninth in for greens in regulation. Should stand him in good stead this week. Will be looking to capitalise on some great form throughout the FedEx Fall, which saw him win at the Wyndham Championship and string together some strong performances in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
